as the doo dad'n detour continues...
i have really enjoyed the last week or so makin' and sewin' up christmas presents and goodies for my friend amy's shop, inspirecompany.com. one o the reasons i was enjoyin myself so was cause i knew it wasn't my turn this year to host the thanksgivin' feast. see. we take turns with other more experienced feast hosts and this year one o them was gonna have the pleasure o followin' martha's day by day preparations for the big day while i, mo jackson, got to destroy the doo dad den by yankin' neatly folded fabrics from shelves and jerkin' down carefully organized trims and such from hooks (all lovingly placed so i could easily see what i needed, by my dear cousin jo). even as the newly painted white floor became more and more hidden by bits and pieces of doos and dads i was done with but was too busy to return to their proper home, i continued gleefully snippin' and stitchin' away - knowin' i could maybe clean up at the last minute before donnin' my festive food expandin' frock to depart for my friend's famous flavorful feast. my only concern, before i left to fill my famished face with turkey, dressin' and dozens o desserts i did not have to prepare myself,. was hopin' i could tend to the moland gatekeeper duties i have neglected and upload the three sets o doo dads that have been waitin' to head to the server while i delighted in desiginin real life doo dads.
well...you can imagine how quickly my glee and delight vanished this mornin' when receivin' the news from mini's daddy that this year's hosts called last night to say they had suffered a minor fire in their kitchen and would it be possible to host this year's festivities here at moland instead of their smokey smellin setting. my first thought was to call these fire starters and tell em a lil smoke would be welcome by anyone - everyone who comes to moland always heads right to jo's trailer and not one of em ever complains about eatin in the smokey atmosphere in that trailer o hers. but these feast cancelin' ex-friends don't offer anywhere near the entertainment level jo does so instead, after i sufficiently chastised mini's daddy for not alertin' me to this information the minute he answered yes to the newly smoked unhosts, i hurled my fabric snippin' shears to the cloth covered floor, grabbed those that snip foliage and headed with my cuttin bucket outdoors to see what i could snap off to use for decoratin' for a feast. fifteen minutes later i piled my cuttins' in the ungolf cart and as i headed back to the house i had the good fortune o takin a path that passed by the dumpster where all the pumpkins and gourds left over from the hallowed holiday were sittin, waitin their turn to be dumped. i piled them in with the rest o my gatherin's and two hours after i was considerin' runnin away from home, the shots above reflect my efforts in last minute decoratin.
i will now figure out what to pile on those plates to please the people's palates. i am horrible at pullin together a meal. i would be okay if the meal called for one food item. like a turkey....or cranberry relish. but gettin' all that is expected ready to eat at the same time and clean up the kitchen enough that the guests aren't fearful o eating what originated there is a real challenge for me. i am hopin' mimi and jo make it back from their tour of the coastline in time to help me....or at least to attend and distract the guest's from their hunger with their charm while i serve up one dish at a time!
i do so hope you all have a fabulous thanksgivin' day and while i figure out how to pull off this latest fete, i will certainly give thanks for each and every one o you this worldwide web has allowed me to find!
doo dad den detours
bossy jo told me i had to explain what kept me away from blogville for so long before i could start my regular bloggin again but i must disobey and put that off for a later missive as i have pictures to go along with the words and am too crippled to get up and get em uploaded this very minute.
i am not quite flat on the floor this time - more of a semi-flat situation is at hand...and once again i have no one to blame but myself and my inability to control my idea of entertainment. it's not like i don't already have enough to do but for some reason just when i 'm ready to tip over from too much, i have the need to add just one more chore to my daily list.
like bloggin about bein missin from blogville....i had every intention to do just as ordered by my tube top wearin pink flamingo lovin man magnet cousin but on my way to the laptop to do so, i stopped by the doo dad den depository and stumbled upon a brand new gallon can o white paint. before i knew it i was touching up some places here and there with that can o paint and then those places that needin touched up looked so much better than the rest o the room that i just kept going. of course all this happened so fast there was no time for any prep work except maybe a lil hard breath blowin to remove any dust particles that happened to be in the way o my brush. this meant i had no choice but to get a few drips and blops on the floor as i discovered more and more places to place the pink handled bristles brimmin with bright white glossy goo. i had armed myself with a pocketful o baby wipes on a quick trip to the sink to rescue my cateyes after i was momentarily blinded by a shower o white sprinkles. for a while i used em to clean up my many small floor accidents but pretty soon those small mishaps were a lil too big for the huggies and i was making a bigger mess when trying to hug em up. then, standin back i realized the result was rather pleasin to the cateyes and i abandoned the huggie step o this adventure altogether. from that point on, whenever a bit o the paint landed on the 100 year old hardwood floor, i just bent down and brushed it out and in no time - well - actually in quite a long time - i had not only white walls but a white floor and feet too!
i was delighted when i finished - altho it looks like another coat will be needed in some places - and was pleased that i had been able to accomplish the unplanned decoratin without bein betrayed by any of my previously broken body parts. but as so often happens, the next mornin is when the betraying began...and still takes place today. so...instead o finishin up the next round o doo dads - which requires behavin body parts - i decided i'd recoop on the shabby couch with my basket o scraps and doo dads created for designin downloads and get going on makin my christmas crafts outta both. i realize it appears that i accidently dropped in a halloween craft but that pumpkin is for an auntie that has a fancy for pumpkins. the chapeaus - which look a bit like cakes - are for some fancy girls i adore and the bags were ordered up by mini for girls she sometimes abhors. this is but a samplin of what i have in the works all around me and what i ended up with after stumblin upon that can o paint.
i should be back up and around by tomorrow and will have one o those exciting days where i have so many things goin on the time flies by much faster than i desire....i'll doo dad a bit then tackle some o that second coat and then stitch some in between and since mini has the day off from schoolin, listen to stories from a charmed life as the soundtrack. the only thing that could make the whole day more perfect would be if my dear friend amy from inspirecompany agrees to rescue me by settin up a lil inspired doo dad department in her shop for the coming holiday season to make use of fact that i always make more creations than i have creatures for. if you're readin this missy amy....please make my wish come true! this overflow of designer doo dads not available for delivery via download are gonna need some good homes and who better to find em than you?
before i return to my adventures in moland i have to thank you all for not givin up on me durin another way too long hiatus from the blog. i'll blog up the excuses o the missin months shortly....but i'm back for good now....especially since jo told me if i skipped more than three days in a row she was gonna come back over and blog up more political prose. i can't allow that since last time she caused such a ruckus...and she has SO many more opinions after the events o the last few days, if she gets started she just might not ever leave...so i'll be back and save you from more politics.
see you shortly and thanks for stoppin by!
ducks on a lawn
it's me...mo's gorgeous cousin jo! mo really did finally attempt to blog every day last week but seems the blog gods continued workin' double time to keep her from doin' so. i kept tellin her just to take care o all the things that were bein' thrown in her way and let me get this thing goin' again but bein eternally optOmistic, she kept thinkin' she could be the one to calm the masses down and bog this here blog down with all the bits and bobs she's tried to jot down durin her extended and much unintended absence. but since me and mimi (our other cousin who parked her very own travelin tin tent next to mine in mo's backyard under cover o darkness back in august) are headin off for a week or so up the pacific coast - our last chance to travel before tube top season is officially over here in sunny california - i thought i'd just ignore the mayor and get those ugly snakes off myself. once we got a plea from missy robin, i knew the time to take action was now.... she's had her hands full with a bad case o bees on a dog and i think when a woman with a sick dog starts beggin for action it can't be put off another day!
so....here are some new words to read and somethin' new for you to look at! thought i'd pop up some newspaper clippin's o mo's front yard in the newspaper. her old house is already sort'a famous - there's been many o day i have arrived home to find a bus o people from other lands on the sidewalk , snappin pictures of each other with mo's house in the background. but ever since mini's daddy bought these ducks for mo and then startin rearrangin em every day and mini took to dressin em up for special occasions, the traffic has increased double-fold. mimi and i even heard some prissy women discussin the mo ducks in the grocery store one day.
too bad the picture from halloween wasn't taken a few days earlier. mo also had an army o broom totin scarecrows prancin' down the lawn. but the saturday night before, mimi thought she heard someone shootin' a gun...so mo called the police department. within minutes that noisy police helicopter was overhead and mo's front yard was flooded with light......it just hovered there and pretty soon a slew o police cars pulled up and the guys n blue jumped out with their guns pulled (we were watchin' all this from mini's bedroom window). we had just about succeeded in gettin mini's daddy to move outta the on all the time television room to go out and see what was happenin when all the action came to a halt and one o those handsome fellas came to the door. seems when the helicopter arrived over head, looked from their point o view like mo's house was bein invaded by a bunch o scraggly men with rifles (guess brooms look sorta like rifles from the sky). we apologized but they said it was the most excitement they had had in a while. never did find out if anyone actually shot off a gun. the next day mimi and i drug all the scarecrows on back to the parked trailer area so that's why you only see the ghost ducks in the shot for the paper.
hope you have enjoyed havin those snakes gone....mo sure is lucky that ya'll haven't given up on her durin her boggin hiatus. she'll be back this week to blog away - and when she can't make it, you can count on me....mimi and i'll be checkin in from the road! we're takin some o the scarecrows with us for protection.
