the doo dad shop is turnin' five

party favor 1
it's hard to believe that this summer marks the fifth birthday o' the doo dad shop. you might remember that my digital doo dads became homeless due to the brouhaha that developed after i dared to discuss my disappointment - here on my blog for all to see - that so many designers deemed it okay to design their own doo dads by duplicatin' the original ideas o' more dedicated designers.

while my friend inspired amy and i struggled to get the doo dad shop up 'n runnin' that first summer, i gifted orphan doo dads to all who stopped by.

this summer, to celebrate my five years o' deliverin' delightful doo dads to you via download from the doo dad shop - AND show my appreciation to all o' you who have stood by me through the thick as well as the thin - i thought i'd pass out plenty o'party favors.

if you desire to download the first fabulous favor just head on over to my site and you'll find a link on the news page. if you do up somethin' real nice usin' the party favor doo dads please do let me know so i can show your work off here or add a link. this first party favor will be available 'til june 24th, 2010. if you missed it request the link when you purchase your next round o' doo dads!

no neeked celebrities here...

my cousin jo
i have always thought it would be nice if a few manly types desired to dedicate a day or so to designin' a depository o' their near 'n dearest or possibly do some decoratin' with digital doo dads. recently it appeared that that thought o' mine was actually takin' place as a few men came 'round to register for the doo dad shop. when those few quickly multiplied by hundreds i was confounded by so many men's curiosity in my creations.

i didn't have to ponder this odd surge o' manly interest in moland too long....afterall...i still have the good fortune o' cousin jo livin' within' hollarin' distance (in her house on wheels in the backyard) and there's hardly anything she doesn't know (unless it has somethin' to do with the stuff taught in school) and if she doesn't know off the top o' her head she'll get the information needed before you can figure out who to ask next.

sure 'nuf she knew exactly why so many men were attemptin' to get an all access pass to mojackson.com. she had heard all about it from the man she says is the most trusted person in journalism - the one and only harvey levin. jo says if harvey says it then it you must believe it...especially since "he's the only serious journalist who admits if he makes a mistake" - though she says , as far as she knows, he's only made a couple - the most recent bein' that picture o' j.f.k. on a boat with neeked girls.

and neeked girls - or at least one neeked girl - is why, accordin' to harvey, all those men appeared to be interested in dolin' out some dollars for my delightful digital doo dads designed for delivery via download. seems there's another website with the same name yet spelled a bit differently that was offerin' up a neeked snapshot or two o' a celebrity from that high school musical movie and all those men got lost along the way to viewin' her neekedness and instead ended up at my cyber front door. i'm a bit surprised that the headers with me in my fat snowman suit or blue cat eye glasses 'n striped tights didn't give 'em reason to pause before takin' the time to register...but then i've never visited a site with neeked pictures....maybe they use somethin' along the same lines.

i'm still thinkin' the day will come when more men are interested in digital doo dads...of course it may take me doin' up some neeked ones for that to happen.

later today i'll blog up the winner o' pretty thing number four and post up pretty thing number five!

p.s. if you look closely at the above picture o' jo (she made me promise to tell you she's donnin' FAUX fur) you can see harvey on t.v. inside the trailer.

a new dilemma in the doo dad den

my assistants
so i am beginnin' to think i am NOT supposed to be on the internet in any way. seems no sooner do i knock one barrier outta the way, somehow another one pops up. i am thinkin' this is a sign the internet gods are sendin' me and i am too hardheaded to hear what they are tryin' to say.

as i may have written here on the ol' blog, in july i experienced a website owner's worst nightmare - or at least the worst as i know it so far....i went to my site via ftp and there was nothin' there - nada....zero....zip. seems someone decided to wipe me out completely. it has taken me from that first minute o' terror 'til now to get things almost back to normal. i still have much to do though so once again on saturday i sat down in my shabby pilot's chair to continue my repair work and low and behold i couldn't access my site...no part of it. i jumped up and fiddled with the airport, said a lil prayer and plopped back down quite sure my site would appear on the screen. but no success. i abandoned the larger screens and fired up the new lap top to see if i had better luck there....but no....my site refused to appear on the brand spankin' new equipment either.

i continued through my actual domain testin' every computer i could find to see if my cyber domain would appear and it failed to do so on any computer in any room. the weird thing was, i could get everyone else's site and discovered everyone else could see mine. i seemed to be the only one with the problem.

for the rest o' the day i tried just bout everything i could think of to get my site to appear for me but nothin' worked. i contacted the weekend help at my web host (they are never any help but i had run outta things to try) and they said there was no problem on their end (this is what they always say). i finally gave up and decided to go to bed. i was certain a new day would bring with it the ability to get to my site.

it didn't. after only a short time i became so frustrated tryin' to figure it out that i finally just reclined on the shabby couch and covered my head. i guess i was really in need of an extended bit o' time away from the screen as next thing i knew it was this morning - and i still can't get to my site. i called my web host - i always have better luck with the weekday workers - and the guy there says it's my internet provider's fault. i called my internet provider and they say it's the web host's fault.

i only wish it was MY fault...then i would have more hope that it could be fixed. i could go back over everything i have done and un-do it.

mini's daddy has now taken over the job o' figurin' out this latest dilemma in the doo dad den. i have my fingers crossed that he'll have better luck than i have figurin' out this newest obstacle that's keepin' me from dishin' out the doo dads i have designed for delivery via downoad.

in the meantime, since so many o' you were more concerned about my fluffy white constant companions than me durin' my long hiatus from bloggin', i thought i'd blog up a picture to let you know that tink and coco are alive and well and as cute as ever. i only wish they were a bit more help sometimes!

as the doo dad turns...

i have made doo dads in one form or another my entire life. any of the kind created on paper or capable of movin from place to place and not fallin apart are still here in my home somewhere. i may not have elaborate journalin or scrapbooks to tell my life story, but my doo dads do a pretty good job of givin a visual biography.

i first started usin the computer in the eighties and though the doo dads were still being done by hand, the mac was a nice way to start storin em so that if they all disappeared i'd still have a record of em. it wasn't until i got my first arcus large bed scanner and color laser printer that i started combinin my lifetime of bein an artist with a tad of scannin and a dash of photoshop. since then i have filled three terabyte sized external hard drives plus hundreds of burned dvds with the doo dads i have created combinin talent with technology.

always knowin that the day would come when i would need to fill the hours previously spent motherin doin somethin else, i guess i figured i'd do the fillin by puttin all this doo dad doin and collectin to use somehow. i also always longed to fill books full of my thousands of photos with my life time collection of doo dads as enhancement but any attempt to do so includin glue and scissors was a disaster. i spent more time looking for some bit i had spent an hour creatin and then cleanin up my mess than anything made warranted. i was a miserable failure. i wondered why no one used printed pages for scrapbooks but anytime i inquired about this to my scrapbookin expert sister, i was made to feel i had committed a crime by just usin the words computer and scrapbook in the same sentence.

the path i would follow was set for me when i discovered miss amy's brilliant effort in spreadin the digitally scrapped page into the homes of the world's scrapbookers via her scrapbook-bytes site. i will always feel she should be lauded as the mother of digital scrapbookin and hope that her brilliant idea ends up eventually makin her rich and famous. because of her, many women who would never attempt anything creative have become artists. i think she is single handedly responsible for there bein fewer divorces, less depression and much better mothers because of the gift she has givin to so many. she may also be responsible for the rise in larger female bottoms around the world from all the sittin and scrapbookin but in her defense, she has had many a layout appear on her site encouraging team efforts in self-improvement.

not long after amy's site got so many usin a mouse instead of scissors for scrappin, miss maya took everything into yet another universe by comin out with the first ever cd full of elements (the formal name for my trademarked use of the words doo dads) that could be purchased to use in scrapbookin. her name should end up right there with amy's when the history of digital scrappin is written and i hope she feels she has received the credit she deserves for her role in helpin to bring digital scrappin to the level it has reached today.

anyway, i started my digital pages and continued makin more doo dads and then had to take a break to go back and forth to texas to help my mom. when she died i arrived home for good to find the early signs of body snatchin which added to my enormous feelin of loss. soon i found i could fullfill my need to accomplish many things each day and still feel sorry for myself my just puttin forth the effort needed to push a mouse around. i have never spent much time surfin the web but somehow i discovered the downloadin duo and an artist there whose work seemed to be much like the kind of doo dads i made. i purchased her art out of curiosity and decided since there seemed to be a market for this sort of art, i'd give it a whirl myself. the first six months or so passed by quickly, me fillin my little spot in the store with my flea market finds & flea market babies with some of my beloved alphas and bits thrown in for good measure.

after a while the well-known designer began emailin me and we struck up an email friendship. we shared many day to day experiences. the well-known designer was technically the best i had ever seen and mixed with my sense of whimsy, we appeared to compliment each other. since she liked to spend hours online pokin around to see what other artists were doin, i could count on her to alert me to what was happenin everywhere else and with my business background, she could count on me to share marketin advice and business ideas. with time i came to obtain more of her art either through downloads made available to artists of the store or via purchases made in an effort to show my support for her talents or durin the time we were workin on projects together. along the way i noticed that she did not name her files in a way that they could be easily identified as belongin to her collections. i suggested to her at some point that she might want to change this as it was easy for her files to get mixed in with others, includin my own, and not know where they came from.

durin our time as email pals, we also shared our wish that the downloadin duo would do a better job of keepin over-inspiration from happenin so often among the artists within their store. we were asked not to contact the artists involved on our own so it was frustratin that our pleas continued to fall on deaf ears. it was with this friend's encouragement that i finally wrote about our concern here on my blog. i had even sought her approval before postin the blog since i felt it was somethin that we both felt strongly about. it was quite devastatin that when my little read blog created the infamous doo dad dilemma brouhaha, the well-known designer completely switched positions... maybe she didn't really mind the artists at the store bein allowed to sell work closely resemblin her own and also, maybe her affiliation with me was doin harm to her hard earned reputation. i was very disappointed in her lack of conviction and ability to stand up for what she had appeared to feel so strongly about durin our friendship once it appeared doin so might effect her sales and i honored her request to distance myself from her by publicly takin sole responsibility for what followed.

around the time me and my doo dads became homeless, i began to offer 'orphan' doo dads for download. all that anyone had to do to get them was to fill out a form that included an email address and i think let me know about the sort of doo dads they liked to use. when the july collection came out i received an email from the well-known designer saying that i had used a stitch that belonged to her and that i had no permission to use and needed to replace it. i knew i had never in my life had the desire or need to use someone else's art and have always been a big mouth when it came to protectin an artist's work. i poked around and realized though that i could have in fact made an error by usin one of her's without intendin to. my stitchin file alone has over 2000 items in it and i couldn't say for sure that one of hers hadn't somehow made it in with mine. i wrote her back sayin i sincerely apologized if i indeed had made a mistake and if so, i would change it and would pay her a licensing fee for the error or whatever was needed.

i was a bit disturbed that she felt the need to obtain the orphans by circumventin the little system i had set up but before i could ponder the whole thing further i got another email sayin she had downloaded the free art many more times and that i had still not replaced her stitch and that she had allowed more than enough time for me to do so etc. etc. of course this was all very upsettin - bein accused, thinkin maybe i had made a mistake and all the more so comin from someone who had once been my friend. i consulted a number of trusted professionals who said it wasn't worth the time i was spendin on it so i changed the stitch and went back to what i was doin before the accusation came.

friday night i heard from this designer again for the first time since the stitch problem. in a sort of mix and match legalise, i have been accused of 'stealin and alterin' her art and sellin it as my own. she has listed 5 or 6 standard hardware items along with a classic type ribbon. i have been given 72 hours to respond before she begins the steps necessary to force me into complyin with her demands for me to admit to my crime by removin the items from my web site.

after lookin at the items she sent, i have no idea whether i accidently ended up with some of her art or not...i just don't know for sure although a couple of em look to make me pretty guilty. i do know without a doubt that i would NEVER do anything like this intentionally....ever , never. the items i may have wrongly assumed - through my own faulty filing and her lack of file namin - as my own, are not unique as far as items available for purchase and can be found in any hardware store or place you purchase ribbons and are readily available in variations and in multiples right here on my own hard drives, ready for includin in any collection, any time. even if i was the thievin sort, i would not be a dumb thievin sort and choose to ignore my own stockpile and instead go take one from someone who at the time the art in question was offered for sale (the collections involved were among my first ), was a friend sellin in the same store and someone i know regularly is on the lookout for any sign of any such thing occurrin.

i have gone through all the 3000 or so items i have for sale within my collections in an effort to make sure there are no other items this well-known designer can choose to accuse me of takin from her. i have also enlisted the help of other trusted people familiar with both of our collections to do the same. once the process is completely finished, i will write to the well-known designer, once considered a close friend, and sincerely apologize that i may have mistakenly thought a legally (not stolen as she accuses) obtained item belongin to her was my own art. i will make sure that the ones she has called into question no longer exist on my site no matter who they came from and though she stated that this is all that she requires, i will ask if there is anything else she feels is needed to appease her.

i want to make it clear that i don't feel the well-known artist has done anything wrong in her attempts to protect her copyrighted art and if i have violated her copyright, she has every right to notify me in any fashion she chooses. i am only saddened because she knows in her heart that all she had to do is write in a friendly fashion sayin that she thinks i have made a big fat mistake and could i please rectify it right away. i am not in need of threats of legal action to to do the right thing - ever. i will always do the right thing because i am an honest and good person who is also capable of makin a mistake. she knows this and her pretendin to forget it is unfortunate. since my logs show she checks my blog a number of times a day maybe readin this will jog her memory.

i am writin about this embarrassin and very sad episode here on my blog for a number of reasons. first, i need to apologize to everyone for the possibility that i made this error. i have worked very hard to earn the loyalty given to me by so many and cannot allow even one of them to hear about this accusation from someone other than myself. it appears that i may have made a mistake and while i will take responsibility, it was in no way something that i would ever do purposefully and the accuser is more than aware of this fact. i have no desire for this to be seen as some secret i am tryin to keep because i am ashamed. i feel i will be forgiven for makin a mistake by those who have come to know me but there is that handful of people who do not wish me well and even the possibility of them thinkin i have some dirt in my doo dad'n past to gossip about and pass around gives me the willies.

for all of you who think i am ignorin your emails or forgot about passin out passwords - if you haven't changed your mind now that you know about this latest episode in 'as the doo dad turns' and are still interested - please know i will get back to what i was doin before the break ins, the sneak ins, the accusations and then my real life of our dog dyin and the body snatcher not doin her homework just as soon as i satisfy the requests of the well-known designer so she can return to doin more of her technical perfection instead of worryin about what i am up to. afterall, there are enough artists looking for designs delivered via download to go around for everybody thanks to this crazy phenomenon started by miss amy and miss maya.

added tuesday:
i am thankful i was givin the opportunity to correct any mistake i may have made along the way and am glad i have a forum in place to publicly apologize for doin so. i am still in the process of makin sure there is nothin else in my bag of goods that somehow made their way into the wrong place and am diligently replacin anything i am even the slightest doubtful about. this mostly includes a few pieces of hardware, a ribbon and the infamous stitch. my style is so similar to the technical wizard's in these areas that it seems easier just to replace those items rather than worry about another accusation comin in the future. to do this properly takes time but it will be time well spent to make sure this episode doesn't rear it's ugly head again.

it is important to say again that the well-known designer had every right to call the items into question in any way she wanted. i'm sure when she decided to do so in the way she decided to do so, knowin me as she once did, that i would feel the need to make my mistake public and apologize for it, as it is the right thing to do. and even if it were not, the way in which the possible mistake was presented to me made it necessary to make a public confession myself rather than to worry that not doin so would be used against me in the future - allowing not only my art but my character to be called into question. it is unfortunate if my need to do the right thing causes harm to anyone - it is never my intent. but recent events have made it necessary for me to protect myself from those whose intentions have shown themselves, in my opinion, to be questionable. not doin so would be foolish. i must say, i would much prefer to spend this time doin what i love to do rather than anguishin over past mistakes i may have carelessly made and relivin old heartaches. but when you make a mistake you gotta pay the consequences.

your comments extendin your willingness to help me forgive myself for any mistakes i have made have been appreciated more than i could ever express to you and i promise to do my very best to continue to earn your continued support. hopefully this is the last time i will be forced to mention this episode in 'as the doo dad turns' and we can get back to the fun we were havin before it occurred.

salt'n the slugs

SlugFest

have you ever had a boyfriend that seemed to be doin the job just fine and then suddenly realized he was not what you thought he was and you decided it was time to move on? you allow him to save face by makin everyone think it had been his idea to break up cause what do you care - you're so busy tryin to fit in all the ones that had been waitin in the wings for you to come to your senses that you never even give him another thought? okay, maybe you take a bit of pleasure when you and one of your new suitors pull up in a bright red ferrari at some eatin establishment and you look over at the volksagon parked next to the passenger side and find the ex-beau sittin there watchin you bein helped out of the i-talian sports car by your handsome date known for playin a super hero on the big screen. you gotta admit some delight was experienced for maybe just a nano second. but other than that, you are so over him and are plan to keep on movin.

but then this ex-fella keeps showing up wherever you are. appears he thinks you aren't aware of his need to know what you're up to so whever you are, he makes sure to go too - even places he isn't welcome - goin to such lengths as tryin to disguise himself thinkin no one will know. you just wanna say 'don't you have anything better to do?' and 'do you really want me to know that you can't get me outta your mind?'.

don't know what made me think of that since i am much too busy tryin to protect the private part of my mo home from interlopers and bandits. it shouldn't be that hard to do. see, in the world of people that hang out at the sites where designers do up doo dads to deliver via download, most pick out a username for signin in and it's that username they hang onto wherever they go. this isn't a hobby where there's much of a need to travel around secretly and slither thru the shops and galleries under the cover of faux identities and anonymous postings. there's no shame involved in looking at cute doo dads designed for delivery via download after all.

okay - so maybe there have been many a child that has had a slow response to some need or other while their mom finished uploadin some pretty little page they did up about their love of motherhood or a husband that was aimin for some lovin when his partner finally joined him for the night and ended up havin to only dream about such things instead cause the other half of the lovin team was lovin their delivered doo dads a bit more than the doin-without dreamer. but until oprah does a show about doo dad addiction and it's need for interventions by our loved ones or unless some designer decides there's a need for neeked doo dads of the pornographic sort, i don't know of there bein much of a need for tryin to come up alias email addresses and faux usernames for shop hoppin and gallery gazin.

in the bizness of doin doo dads to deliver via download, it is my experience that most of the participants look forward to the internet audience comin to know who they are. sort of a virtual neighborhood, where the inhabitants travel around from place to place and enjoy bein recognized by the other digital art citizens and getting to know those they bump into along the way. you might not ever know the actual name that appears on a fellow traveler's driver's license but seldom does a well-intentioned member of this strange but wonderful little community get involved if they intend on doin so anonymously. i mean, after all, the way of participatin is to slap pictures of your family and life along with your own written descriptions of what you think of em on the world wide web! i can't recall many legit, authentic scrappers/artists who scrap and post art done up with people they don't know. what would be the purpose (this wouldn't include those who do up scrapped pages for non-family member for pay).

we get to know our digital art inclined neighbors pretty well via what they post and how they travel hither and yon. oh sure, you misjudge from time to time and get your heart broken when one of your pixel pals disappoints you, but that's part of life. seems most regular members of this growin universe deal with these stumbles honorably and make every attempt to treat such breakups respectfully, whether they are the heartbreaker or heartbreakee.

many designers who venture out into the internet hopin to deliver downloads of their doo dads by lining imaginary shelves with lovingly created pixels (in my case sometimes a few too many in the wrong places) in the shapes of ribbons n bow n buttons n such and then provide a place for their devotees to come around and show off what they did with em, just throw the doors to the place open wide for all to come and sign up with their internet handles and email addresses and maybe don't know or care when slug slitherin or stalkin is takin place.

i haven't yet opened the gallery and shop portion of my domain to the public. see, as those girls over at the pea throwin place made quite clear after visitin the public part of my spot , i am not a web site designer - oh no - not in the least. i did obtain me some help to put the thing together but the poor dear just about swore off the internet altogether after workin with me for a while. she hung in there but it was touch and go as she saw that i wasn't all that acceptin of the limits in typefaces and accepted modes of this and that and that i could care less about followin some rule just so the search engines would deem me worthy.

i won't open the back end of my little spot on the internet to the public until i have worked all the little kinks out and am pretty sure i can give each and every person who logs on the best customer service they ever experienced as well as makin sure i have enough goin on to make the trip worthy for em. setting up shop is different than makin pixel pals. and this designs available via download community is small enough and by golly vocal enough that if you open the doors and hollar for everyone to come runnin, you better be ready to take care of all visitors the way they deserve to be taken care of. if not you'll find yourself sitting starin at a screen with buckets o' hurled peas aimed at your username. it'd be like invitin people to a party and havin em show up to find you hadn't yet popped open the lid on the bean dip or ripped open the bag of fritos.

my feelin all along has been that if you build a good doo dad, they will come. and so far, the sort of person who likes my sort of doo dad is findin me. i try to make sure once they say they wanna come by for a visit, they know that my little place on the web is still considered more of a construction site than a WEB site and that they might run into some bumps along their way and that i am open to all suggestions. there are those who don a hard hat and visit and don't stay long...those who poke around and never return....a couple who thought it was the bees knees and then somethin made em change their thinkin and they snuffed out all signs of their previous devotion to doo dads.

but then there are the hundreds that have been welcomed in and have made themselves comfy and stop by a few times a day to see what's happenin. they say my failed attempt at web design has a cozy feel, even with all the noise from the hammerin and such goin on. i have truly enjoyed gettin to know the regulars and those that have started their own doo dad collections seem to appreciate all the extras i throw their way to show my gratitude for the pleasure they have provided me.

BUT...my oh so detailed reports show that there are some visitors that have gotten access to the private area of my domain by foolin me into thinkin they were someone else and this has left me feelin sort of violated. a few of these faux friends have even attempted to strike up emails relationships with me under their fake names, emails and personalities. i'm not sure if i'm more upset about them thinkin i was that dumb or that i proved them right. even more shockin to me is that one of these slitherin sneakers just so happened to be in my not yet open to the public home on the web at the exact time and on the exact pages where the bandit alarm was sounded last week. and then almost as creepy is the well known designer who spent approximately eight hours in this private area, going thru each and every item and perusin each and every member who had participated - all after sendin in faux information to get all registered up.

i find the whole thing unsettlin altho what is really puzzlin is you'd think these slugs and bandits would be savvy enough to realize they are leaving behind slimey trails that make it possible for their true identities to be discovered...i have been wrong before and maybe i'm wrong again cause otherwise i'm sure they wouldn't be doin this slitherin and sneakin. as of just last night i had one of em have one of their family members email me for access - i guess they forgot that i remembered the name from the christmas greetin they sent out last year. now it makes me wonder - was it a true greetin or a faux one? when people act in sneaky, sluggy ways it sort of makes you have doubts about them overall.

my desire to sell my doo dads was so i had a reason to keep makin em. i must admit i'm addicted to doin so. my reason for havin a gallery was to create a warm and friendly community where artists who enjoyed my doo dads could show off the art they created usin em and a place where good friendships could be made and a good time could be had by all. these things are alot more important to me than winnin over the most visitors or havin to do things a certain way so that i appeal to everyone. and i like to consider each and every person who honors me with posting their art on my site or takes the time to make comments and such, a member of the doo dad 'design team'. i find the thing i enjoy most is when someone new to this whole new form of entertainment feels comfortable enough to upload their first effort for all to see and everyone takes time to send them bits of encouragement. there's nothin like getting those little announcements that tell you a fellow traveler has stopped to admire your work - no matter how long you been doin this digital artin, it's a real good feelin and especially for a newcomer.

so...after all that blah blah blah...just wanna add...if you are lookin for some nice doo dads and wanna come to a nice .warm lil place on the world wide web and be surrounded by some really nice folks, then maybe you'll come knockin on my door. but nobody likes to feel someone is tryin to pull somethin over on em and the energy used tryin to do so sure could be better spent on something more important - so if you are more the trail leavin slug type or a bandit who takes pleasure in messin up someone else's hard work or feel the need to be sneaky in your travels, please- just pass my place by cause no matter how you are goin about it, you're not foolin me anymore and you end up just lookin foolish.

well - enough words given over to those who don't deserve em....for all of you who have written to offer your condolences on havin to deal with these sad sluggos and bandits, thank you very much and i apologize for not gettin back to everyone yet. it seems that after a year of not bein able to sleep for more than a few hours a night, i can't stay awake for more than a few hours at a time this week. i am sure i am close to bein rested now and once i get all the doo dads - delayed due to my dozin yet dying to debut for delivery via download - done up dutifully and divided digitally into their downloads, i will get right on all the emails i should have been writing instead of dozin daily.

and by the way....almost a hunderd of you have tried to guess what was on mini's daddy's video and no one has come close. maybe i'll just have to tell you on your next visit when you might just arrive to me ponderin why girls reach the age of 13 and overnight decide they know everything and you know nothin and what is it with all of em ruinin a perfectly good hair-do by decidin it must be parted way over on one side and then havin the flopped over portion hang in their eye? if you know the answer to that please do send it along as the only thing standin between me and a bald child is that i have taken to sittin on my hands when talkin to her.

todays art is once again by the oh so talented tracy, recently crowned re-colorin wizard over at the moland mall. and i need to thank zee for her excellent detective work after the bandit set the alarm off and for compilin all the info from the reports on the trails the slugs leave behind.....and to dear millie....while you were goin thru such a difficult time and away from the screens, i thank you for bein so smart on a daily basis that your absence was felt greatly....amyk for makin sure all the doo dads for donations get to where they need to go.....and of course to all you doo dad devotees who make the world a brighter place for an addicted doo dad artist.

i have wished all my life for long legs. it's not so much that i don't like the ones i have but everyone knows that long slender legs and small butts are what everyone wants. you never hear anyone longin for a big butt and chunky thighs - except maybe that guy who wrote that rappy tune about likin big butts that is now being used to advertise school supplies - but i don't think that did much to turn around everyone's thinkin.

i recently started my exercise routine again. about an hour ago. seems all this dabblin in desginin doo dads for delivery via download has not been kind to my behind. i'm not alone. there is this new phenomenon that has developed as a result of a woman sitting long hours doin up ditigal doo dads. it will sneak up on you if you aren't payin attention or watching for it. this unkindness may make for a more comfortable sit but standin will become less flatterin.

i had hoped in my case the long trek back and forth to jo's trailer would have helped a little with this thing i call the digital doo dad'n derierre but makin the round trip in mini's dad's golf-cart-turned-lawn-warrior-mobile with a hand full of fritos pre-dipped in bean dip has done nothin to lighten the load. fightin jo for the rights to the vehicle has provided a bit of areobics but not enough to work off the extra cake calories needed for my behind to look like it did previous to me meetin my daily double digit goal for designin doo dads.

i look pretty good as long as i'm only seen waving from the car or in seated scenarios. i do believe it has gotten past the point of being able to hide it behind a grocery cart or large handbag though. i really started gettin concerned when even my favorite old overalls i've worn since the eighth grade and which saw me comfortably through pregnancy were feelin a little snug across the hips. this was not good since during my makin of mini mo my husband liked to announce, because of my size, 'my wife is givin birth to a baby and it's pets - two german shepherds and a shetland pony' - the pets referring to the fact that i appeared to be formin more than just a small human inside my 5 foot almost 3 inch body and these extras were being created in the large projectiles that had once been my breasts and what had become a big fat butt that sort of melted into two short blobby thighs.

my mother and father should have never been allowed to come together and create children. they both had short legs and together created more short legged creatures who have ended up havin a deep desperate desire for even one long leg. in case you were fortunate enough to have normal length extremities and aren't aware, if you've got short legs and put on anything more than an extra half a pound, it attaches to the back of your thigh and then continues to pile up there, moving around to the side slightly so that you've got yourself what is called 'saddlebags'. maybe that's only what they are called in texas and in your neck of the woods go by somethin just as disgustin but whatever you know them as, they arrive and once there, are difficult to remove.

if this scenario is allowed to progress, the extra poundage then works it's way further up your sides and creates a new body part called 'love handles'. why they're called that i'll never understand cause there's nothin to love about em. this is one more development that occurred while i sacrificed up my much cared for and toned physique for makin a child and another that my once prince charmin took great pleasure in using for his constant comedy at others expense routine.

he found great pleasure in tellin me how nice it would be that i could carry HIS baby and two diet cokes to him at the same time with no problem meanin that i could set a can on each handle for the trip. if it was possible to get a divorce at the 7-11 while payin for a day's worth of baby ruths and a gallon sized slurpy i would have done so but since that was about all i had the energy for while haulin around a developin baby, her pets and all those new body parts, i had to just buck up and endure this extra attention showered on me in my time of growth.

it might be okay if i had been blessed with only the short leg gene but also bein dinged with the double D delights that cast shadows over anything i stood above since the age of 12 makes it difficult to find duds to disguise a digital doo dad'n derrière. the long baggy shirt look may hide the big baggy bottom hidin beneath but the protrusion of the D's above creates a tent like effect that only makes you look bigger than you can take credit for. winter is good. the cold weather allows for the wearin of a coat of some sort and many hours of doo dad'n can therefore be hidden.

if you have any hope of keepin from the world the new additions to your body in the warmer months, forget it and just plan on puttin in lots of time in front of the screen because there is no summer frock i have yet to discover that will allow you to keep your growin a secret. it's temptin just lock the house up tight and tell your friends you are goin abroad for the summer months - it will be the truth if you act like you accidently added the 'a' before the 'broad'.

lettin it be known you are available during sunny times means you might have to endure a fate worse than death to a mom with an expandin behind - an invitation to a pool party. i have made a habit of gettin the mail before any one else in the family and if such doom arrives in my mailbox, i walk straight to the trash, pitch it in and never mention it to a soul. no need for guilt on this one - dastardly deeds done during these difficult times are supposedly forgiven.

i'd give anything to be one of those expanding women who seem to never give their size a thought, squeeze into a swimsuit and head for any waterin hole available. once there, they frolic in their half nakedness as if the vison shown to those around them is that of only loveliness and jump in and out of the water like super models struttin down the runway with nary a cover-up in sight. me - if i were sittin around a pool less than fully clothed, there could be someone drowning right in front of me and i'd STILL have to throw on the vison protecting cover-up before standing to leap in and save their life.

if you are the long legged small behind type who can eat anything and never gain an ounce, all this might sound a bit crazy but it will be understood by other 'normal' women with 'normal' bodies who give up all the other joys of life and even good nutrition to make sure they have properly documented their family's daily comins and goins through digital doo dad'n and who therefore have also developed the doo dad' derrière problem from lack of any real movement besides their eyeballs and clicker finger and being forced to eat calorie laden foods right there at the screen for fear of not getting their latest layout succesfully posted for all the world to see.

having now read all these facts i have written for you to ponder, imagine my utter delight when while once again givin up precious time cookin or cleanin or listenin to new comedy routines invented around my few shortcomins, i am at the doo dad'n station, listenin to the t.v. and i hear that it is has been discovered that having a big butt and large thighs is GOOD FOR YOU! yes indeedy - i am tellin you the gospel truth...there he was, that handsome matt sittin next to that perky katie sayin those exact words...BIG BUTTS AND THIGHS ARE GOOD FOR YOU! i could've choked on my second double fudge chocolate chip breakfast muffin i was so shocked!

if this wasn't enough heart poundin excitement for a year at least, the phone rings around the same time and it's that animal loving skinny legged flat butted and therefore unhealthy woman from the humane society tellin mini that our bird dogs have been found and the finders are on their way to our house to bring em home that very minute!

well, i swear i thought my heart might just stop from all this happiness! i had certainly given up on wishin for a world where big butts and large thighs was somethin to long for and i hate to admit it but i my wish that we'd find our bird dogs alive and well was beginnin to fade.

but here they were, leapin through the front door lookin better than they had in quite some time or maybe it just seemed like it since i had been picturing them as starvin to death in some field somewhere for a week and a half now. it was an overwhelmin emotional homecomin. seems a couple that lives just a few blocks away were eating dinner a week ago yesterday when their own big black dog pushed open the door and let lady bird and lucy bird in. i never asked why it took them so long to haul em on down to the humane society, especially when i could tell the man was having a hard time letting go of lady and the nice woman had tears in her eyes. i just kept huggin em and thankin them for bringing the girls home to us.

so there you have it....proof positive that sometimes even the most impossible wishes can come true. of course by next week they'll announce some reason that this latest discovery about the big butts and thighs is all wrong but between now and then i am going to have the best time sitting on my spreading derrière designing doo dads for delivery via download completely guilt free for the first time in quite a while.

things are progressing on the fake store front and i am wishin i can finish off this week with celebratin the doors opening up for at least a little testing of the fake cash register! keep your fingers crossed for me - it sure helped in bringin the bird dogs home and your emailed wishes for their safe return will never be forgotten!

happy birthday jo!

jos love shack on wheelshappy birthday cousin jo

it had to happen sooner or later...jo finally escaped from the doo dad den and realized enough time had passed since i chained her to the doo dad deliverin machine that it was now her birthday. i hate to admit it but i would have let her continue to go unkowin what the calendar was sayin for at least another 24 hours...that's all i needed to figure out the couple of glitches we accidently forced upon a few doo dad devotees, get em corrected and 'upped' to be 'downed'...then i promise i was goin to release her.

it was gettin a lil scary anyway - we had slept so little we were actually gettin used to layin our heads down only every other time we saw there was no sun shinin through the doo dad den's french doors - altho we have taken to closin em up because of the super tracy squirrel, dressed in the bitty baby clothes stolen from the attic, just sittin on the railing of the balcony starin at us. i swear that squirrel was a human in a past life - and quite a fashionable one i must admit. how else can you explain a squirrel knowing how to match up all the different pieces to the outfits and figurin out how to sort a put the bitty clothes on? i have been beggin mini mo's daddy to go up in the attic with the camera - but he knows if my suspicions are correct, we'd have to move right away. see, i think this squirrel is so smart it has probably even arrange all bitty's lil doll furniture up there and is livin a fine life. no one believes me but really, no one has been payin much attention to me lately anyway.

mini's daddy is plottin out one of his big productions and is mostly ponderin and mini...well..let me just say the body snatcher is nobody me and mini mo would have ever had anything to do with back when the real mini was still livin here. i have to admit that i have been really sad about the whole affair and think it is probably a good thing that i decided to try to kill both cousin jo and myself with that crazy idea of showin my great appreciation for all the support i have received from everyone by offerin my doo dads at a once in my whole lifetime discounted price.

and kill us i might've done if we didn't both like livin so much more. it wasn't that it would have been so hard for anybody else. but try putting two women together who both have ADD and who are constantly competin to see who can make the other one laugh so hard they turn purple and add to that a fancy dressed squirrel terrorizin em from all sides eatin away the internet from time to time and a lil un-dog who is used to bein carried instead of walkin on her own - well - that alone is more than enough....but then hurl a zillion doo dad orders at em - not one alike in which doo dads they want or where they will go or anything...and well.... it's a time we won't ever forget.

i kept thinkin i would make it back here during the melee but i just knew one of you who thought you had waited just a bit too long for those doo dads you ordered would think...why on earth is that woman typin away on that blog rather than gettin my doo dads packed up and headed in my direction....so i waited until we had most all the orders on their way and until i had more emails ordering me to blog than to deliver doo dads....then the last couple a days i had people who were wating for doo dads tell me to forget theirs for the time bein and blog instead. so with jo's escape and all the rest...well..here i am.

i must try to get some sleep so i have the energy to bake up a cake or two for jo's birthday. i think we have both earned a whole triple decker each even though we have more to do. and those two bossy chicks who love me too much for my own good are crackin the whip for me to get a temporary site up so the doo dads can be delivered via download so i don't actually really end up droppin prematurely in a dead heap. i just really hate it not bein perfect but i will have to give in so you can expect some sort of ugly forced upon me thing shortly but until then jo is still sending out the doo-dad-a-logs around the clock. she does tend to skip a request now and then so just yell at her if you sent your buck to paypal and are still missin yours.

two things before i go.... as for the lovely art accompanyin this first blog in over a week....it was created by the oh so talented zahra and tracy in honor of cousin jo's birthday. why, you ask, is fabio featured so boldly in them? it is not because jo likes "i can't believe it's not butter."..no...that is not the reason. see, cousin jo loves fabio whateverhislastnameis. i always knew she had a fondness for this man i consider to be rather ape like in appearance but i had no idea how deep her affection ran until i made the mistake of tellin her how i dialed the wrong number one day and the number i ended up dialin just happened to be his. i spent maybe a good 30 minutes or so havin a conversation with the man of jo's dreams. i have no idea what we were talking about because i couldn't make out a word he said - i told jo i thought maybe that bird he crashed into on that rollercoaster might have done some damage but she says he just has a heavy accent. whatever...i pretended i understood at the time and who knows what i committed to cause it sounded like he thought i was someone he was expectin to make a delivery or fix somethin. anyway, i made the misitake of tellin jo about it and have paid for it dearly ever since. i swear at least five times a day she asks me to dial the number i was aimin for when i got him instead. i must admit i tried to do it myself right after talkin to him...just for fun. but she's dead serious. thank goodness there's no way she can find out his address as i'm sure she'd be pullin that hunk of junk of hers smack dab up in front of his house and he'd have to get a restrainin order against her and i hate to be selfish but she needs to stay here and help me with the doo dads and i don't have time to go bail her out of the fancy beverly hills jailhouse either. anyway, i guess today since it is her birthday i'll be doin lots of mis-dialin on her behalf...it's the least i can do since she's been so good to me.

then the last thing...a big thanks to all of you not only for showin your doo dad devotion through all the emails and doo dad desirin via orders but also for your incredible patience while jo and i figured out how to get our act together to get those lil fellas on their way. if yours haven't arrived yet they will shortly and if you get worried about em, just shoot us an email and we'll find em for you. and since we did make a few lil errors durin the learning curve, please know we are good for all of em and will fix any 'do that can't dad'. i have to say, you have all been incredible. what is most amazin is discoverin that scrappers must be the most honest group there is....as you doo dad orderers know, the one thing we got around to maybe only once or twice was ask for any money. it was the least of our concerns. but every single order that should have been paid for so far has...without any request from me! i think that's amazing beyond words. i only know this because paypal sends the lil announcement to tell me when some is sent....i still haven't been over there to look as i really haven't had time. so thank you for that too...maybe there will actually be enough to pay for all the cds we ruined when jo put the labels on the BURNED side and they all had to be re-done or all the labels that printed out backwards or all the ones we spilled coffee on or for all the priority mail labels...but whether they do or not really doesn't matter because what i really hope is that all your doo dads and the bits of extra stuff we tried to send arrive and that you feel as appreciated as i wanted you to and that you'll be as excited to see all the new doo dads just waitin in my hard drive for their debut as i will be to show em to you. so...once again...a big ol thank you from me to you!

okay - a few zzzzzzs are in order as i have a full day of cakes and dialin wrong numbers ahead of me....i'll be back tomorrow to tell you what you can look forward to in the orphan department in the comin week and hopefully post all the layouts you have been sending me. until then....

just a little bossy soundin' orderin' info!

sparkling elizabeth by scrappin

it meant alot to me yesterday to hear from so very many of you.....just sorry you all thought somethin really bad had befallen me and the doo dads. now you know the lil fellas are fine but were just were made homeless a wee bit earlier than i was told would happen. it's fine cause they don't like bein unappreciated.

since their new home isn't ready yet, i had planned to have a PDF catalog ready by the time they they were sent packin....but i only got a couple hours email notice that they were no longer welcome even for another day or so and then with all the email flying in and downloads flyin out, well, i fell a bit behind.

so by tomorrow evenin i will most certainly have a catalog ready and waitin so that it can be used for orderin until the site is finished. i know you're wonderin - how could a lil ol site take so long? well, you see...i have no desire to have just a regular ol site so everyone's been scurrying around trying to figure out how to do it the way i want to do it....and doin 'different' seems to take a longer amount of time! i promise it will be worth the wait.

now, as for the catalog....as all of you who have come to know me are aware, i not the nickelin and dimin you to death type of doo dader and won't ever be puttin the dollar sign ahead of all else....so i hope you'll understand my need to send out the catalog the way i'm gonna explain.....

....i want anyone orderin up a catalog to really want one for orderin doo dads. i also want to know who i send 'em to. therefore...to order one up you need to send me a dollar thru paypal. next time you order i'll take the same dollar off the top of your total. my paypal address is mojackson@mac.com.

now for all you who have already placed orders with me, no need to be sendin the dollar and that also applies for orders placed after you read this. just let me know you want one and if you will be wantin any of the updates with all the new doo dads just waitin to make their debut.

for everyone else - once i get the notification that you sent in your dollar, i will send the catalog your way.

also, since so many of you wanted doo dads today but just couldn't quite make up your mind without lookin at em...well.. we can't let the downloadin duo get us down for dumpin the doo dads a day before they promised....so i will still take 25% percent off orders over $15.00 through to the fourth of july.....i think that is only fair. but this will only apply to those sent to you on cd - unless that creates a real hardship for you and then we can figure somethin out.

okay...so to wrap it all up:

•catalog available to order by friday evening.
•send mojackson@mac.com payment of $1.oo for orderin'
•the paypal notification will trigger the catalog sent your way
•the dollar will be deducted from your next order
•25% still apllie off CD orders $15.00 and over placed by midnight july 4th

if you think i missed something feel free to email jo at moscousinjo@mac.com. i'm sorry if i sound kinda bossy but you know - sometimes that's how layin out a plan sounds! from now on i'm gonna make jo do the layin out - she loves to be bossy.

still ponderin' and givin away art...

mos melissa's garden

hope all you who have been lookin' for new art from me this week won't mind if i answer you all at once, here on the ol' blog!

i ran a bit late getting this week's art up on my lil' ol' site but it's finally there - waitin' for you to adopt it as your own.

my tardiness had nothin' to do with me still ponderin' where my doo dads should go at the end of june when they are officially homeless. no - you see, there's just been too much goin' on here today. cousin jo pulled that big parade of metal of hers up before dawn and had all the fancy neighbors in a fit 'cause she kept blowin' that loud horn on her buick - it plays 'girls just wanna have fun' or at least the beginnin' of it. some of my neighbors look like they've never had fun....but that might change now with jo on the street! then mini mo and gigi have been puttin' together some sort of big production on the full sized stage in the backyard - they won't let me look out there yet. and to top it all off, mini mo's dad is still caught up in his personal deep-throat-has-been-revealed celebration. did i ever write here on the blog that he watches 'all the president's men' at least once a week?

well, looks like i have a lot to write in this blog to catch you up on everything - cousin jo, the minis and deep throat....but i'll do that later. for now, go take a look at the upadate and adopt yourself some new art....let me know how you like it.

this week's art is dedicated to the memory of the original queen of the doo dad...my sweet mom melissa. it was almost exactly a year ago that i had to say good-bye to her. i want to thank each of you for helping me keep so much of her alive when you use so many of the doo dads she passed on to me and i have been passing on to you. and as i have told so many of you, a year that could have been spent feelin' sorry for myself, new to being motherless and all, went by much better because you kept me busy making doo dads...so thank you from the bottom of my heart. i'll try to make you even better ones this year!
