mother's day hankie banner
so i was going through my grandmother's hankies and tryin' to pick out my least favorites so i could use 'em to make my cousin jo a few halter tops to wear when we venture outdoors to look in neighbor's windows while taking the trendy triplet maltese un-dogs for their stroll. i'm hoping to replace those ancient tiny tube tops she fancies wearin' when the weather is above 70 degrees. they are way too revealing for someone her age - or ANY age - plus getting those tubes over that big beehive of hers calls for some re-teasin' and another coat of aquanet.
anyway, as i was pressing my grandmother's hankies and tryin' to decide which ones i was willing to sacrifice i realized they'd make a really nice banner - or a bunting if you prefer - that is sure to bring a big smile to even an often grumpy grandmother like the one jo and i had wished we still had.
soooo...i turned a few of our beloved hoarding grandmother's hankies into delightful digital doo dads designed for delivery via download here on my blog - no dollars demanded.
if you'd like to decorate this mother's day or ANY day with a cheerful smile inducing banner of vintage possibly antique foral hankies just hit THIS and you'll end up with a download of some hankies to hang. i've included directions with these digital doo dads but feel free to demand help.
as of may 7th 2026 i am STILL having trouble getting the download to work! after sending your email address and requesting the link, if you can't get it, just hit the contact button up above and let me know - i'll dash this download (and any others you request that are offered and still available here on my blog) to you myself.
i do so hope you are having a lovely day be you a mother or not. i've gotta go make jo's hankie halters now. xoxoxo
bella
there are two rules i've asked mini's daddy to agree to when he's out n' about and the urge to take ownership o' somethin' or other takes over. the first is that he not buy somethin' that we should decide on together (snapping potential purchases with his iPhone has made that one easier to follow) and not to bring home a dog. he's never done either until now.
i know i must've written here at sometime or another over the eight past years about mini's daddy's need to hear a cash register ring at least twice before noon to feel all is well in his world. if i haven't divulged that info i'm sure i've at least mentioned how he seldom returns from even the shortest outing without some sort o' new acquisition. his 'gifts' to me, mini, jo and/or anyone else who happens to be residin' within our home are completely unpredictable. they can be really small and greatly appreciated - like a hershey bar - or really big and hugely bizarre - like the time he n' jo went to pick mini up at school in the pick-up and shortly after delivered her home in a brand new bright red prius (with jo following closely behind in the truck).
seldom are the doo dads my dear husband decides to drag through the door n' drop into our domicile disparaged. most o' the time he exhibits excellent taste. off the top o' my head i can only draft a list o' less than a dozen duds that made me dread his disposition for obtainin' what he deems desirable. and while i still hate the lamp he bought mini at a street fair made outta those plastic 'bright lights' and can't count the times i've pitched out those life sized fish mounted to wood that without warning start moving 'n beltin' out show tunes only to discover them back in position to serenade, i've come to feel the man's penchant for procuring is more of a benefit than a disadvantage. after all, he does happily welcome requests before he departs the house and with even the longest o' lists returns back with everything we actually need.
anyway...about the rule breakin'...he recently went to visit his best friend t.o. and i expected him to return with a bag full o' beautiful wool fabric since that's what a trip in that direction usually brings. instead he walked through the door carrying a wooly weary white dog. before i could demand he take her back where she came from he told me her sad saga.
her name is bella and she's eight years old. she lived all her life with a couple and their daughter but when the parents divorced recently she became homeless 'cause not a one of them wanted the responsibility o' carin' for her. so she was given to a woman who rescued dogs. when the woman had to leave town for a few days she asked t.o. to take care of her. he fell instantly in love with the homeless bella but knew he couldn't keep her 'cause he's single 'n travels constantly. it seems the dog gods were looking down on this homeless canine for the first time in a while 'cause right about the time she was supposed to leave mini's daddy arrived and not only does he have a weakness for shoppin' but also for any child or animal that might not be receiving' what they deserve. knowin' his wonderful wife - me - could care less for shopping' but was of like mind when it came to helping those who couldn't help themselves, he adopted bella into our family on the spot.
our new dog bella has a sweet face that always appears to be asking' if everything is okay and a clumsy sort of way that makes her oh so lovable. and unlike any other member o' my family (this includes men, daughters and cousins as well as canines), she is perfectly trained. the only problem so far is that she is completely devoted to her rescuer. any time he has to leave the house without her she sits by whatever door he departs from and cries until he returns. if we are able to pry her away she continues to stare in the direction from which he disappeared and quietly sobs until he returns. when he does reappear, she rejoices in leaps and loud yelps and refuses to leave his side. this behavior would be annoying if we didn't understand that she's scared to death o' bein' abandoned again.
i don't know the people who gave bella up after eight years so maybe there was a reasonable excuse for abandonin' a family member without any inquiries afterward. i often ponder how they could give her up and not need to know she is okay. disappearin' from her life did some serious damage to the poor lil' thing. until we can make her feel secure in her new home, mini's daddy can't indulge as often in his shoppin' habit since not every establishment allows dogs to accompany the spender. that's okay for now but i'm hopin' by christmas we succeed in makin' bella feel at home so he can get back to professional procurement status.
if you'd think you can use the art surroundin' the shot of my terrific trio you can download it HERE.
croonin' cocobelle
i've been busy bundlin' up beanies, blossoms 'n bows for bitty babies and somehow i've gotten lost every time i bounded toward blogdom. once the latest batch o' boxes were on their way to bare headed babies everywhere, i dedicated a dozen or so days to uploadin' dozens o' new digital doo dads designed for doo dad devotees and dabblers to download. but today, before i could send the server the store samples, i surmised i'd squinted seriously at my screen for far too long and should shut down my system and switch back to sewin'.
it didn't take me long to decide i'd dedicate the day to designin' darlin' dog dresses in damask, dots and maybe a bit o' ditsy. once done, i'd decorate my darling dog duo - tinkerbell and coco - in the divine duds and get them to pose for a dozen or so delightful digital dog dress demonstratin' photos to display in my shop.
i did my designing and constructing but darn if my dainty dog daughters displayed absolutely no discipline - not a drop. they loved loungin' around in the lovely layers of linen 'n lace i'd stitched and even made me hopeful as they leaped a bit after lappin' up a large lunch of livery lookin' lumps. but while i snapped shot after shot after shot of the well-shod sisters, there wasn't a single sit nor one submissive stay in the whole bunch. they insisted on behavin' like beloved dogs instead of modelin' mutts.
all my shots turned out shoddy so i'm not sure any o' today's tailored togs will ever travel beyond my table. but bad as they are, i love these three shots of cocobelle seriously singing one o' her solos. she sends out series o' serenades several times a day and seems to sense when a tune or two might be needed. i must admit it's difficult to desire discipline when a diminutive dog, decorated with daisies, dandelions and such, successfully delivers melodies meant mainly for liftin' your mood. i feel quite fortunate to have such a musical maltese on this day after marathon monday. i hope the snaps of her singin' (it's probably just as well that you can't also HEAR her) make you smile - if only for a second or two.
betty the weird wiener dog
if you've been around a while you might remember me introducin' you to betty jean, mini's wiener dog. she 'n mini have the same birthday and therefore celebrate each year with one big party (i blogged quite a memorable one here).
though she arrived with a pedigree, poor betty has never had great beauty, could never be completely house trained, constantly gets her tricks confused (rolls over when asked for a paw shake 'n sits when a roll-over is requested), has a tail that looks as if it spent time in a faulty pencil sharpener and sprouts fur so crunchy only those of us who love her dare pet or pick her up.
but it's not any o' her sensational short comins' that make betty jean the most unique of all the canine creatures created...no...not a one o' those. the thing that is the most - i should say weird but i'll be kind 'n call it 'special'- so...the thing that is the most special about betty jean is her hobby.
i've tried 'n tried to get a good picture but she seems to only enjoy this hobby when no human is around. this shot mini's daddy snapped with his camera phone is the best that we have...actually it's the only we have so far. you have to look really close at the smallest shot above but once you do you'll see possibly the only rose bush climbin' wiener dog in existence. i could be wrong but i don't think there are too many other unattractive badly coated trick twisted wiener dogs with this same talent. and she doesn't just climb the thorny bushes...once she arrives at the top she gets comfy 'n takes a snooze.
the squirrel part one
stoppin' too long to indulge my desire to tell you all 'bout the mean squirrel would mean children all over the world might be bad mouthin' the easter bunny (aka their mothers leavin' me negative nods via etsy) when their personalized eggs don't arrive in time to make it into their baskets.
...so... i'm just stoppin' long enough to show you this shot o' the evil squirrel and ask you...doesn't it appear that this creepy creature is givin' me the dreaded middle finger gesture? jo swears it has to be some sorta' optical illusion but i am not convinced....if you remember, this is the same squirrel that was somehow able to don an american girl dress and many times has gathered earthly odds 'n ends to accurately hurl at me when i have had the door to the balcony open.
okay - back to the eggs....
xoxoxoxoxmo
p.s....reading the first paragraph back to myself i realize i may be exaggeratin' my worldwide importance in assistin' the bunny just a bit. i actually only have two eggs to send outside these united states...but the directions i was sent for those two eggs is so detailed it has actually given me egg paintin' anxiety and could be the cause o' me inflatin' my role in the upcomin' holiday's success.
my alarm clock...
coco 'n tink's new collars
we discovered the place where tink n' coco were bein' groomed spent less time on the groomin' and way too much time keepin' the lil girls in cages. tink would return so mad at me for allowin' someone to treat her in this less than royal way that she wouldn't even look at me for two days. it took us a while to find them a new beauty parlor but finally they have a new hairdresser and standin' appointments so that they remain clean n' fluffy.
the new dog beautifier told me that the reason their floof was always a bit tangled was because their lovely canine couture wasn't lined in satin....that if i'd line up all their doggy duds in the silky stuff they would remain tangle free between appointments. this made perfect sense to me but i have never had the time to tailor their togs to accommodate the detanglin'. in the meantime they have remained neeked and in my opinion, in need of a lil accessorizin'. i have searched for collars that were special enough for them to don to no avail. i even tried puttin' some lil doo dad on their heads but coco immediately removes hers and then rips out tink's.
finally, i figured out the perfect solution....a collar full o' momade blooms, complete with a lil ring on it - to attach a leash! this picture is of tink, modelin' (n' nappin') the first one i made. she 'n coco look so pretty on our walks that everyone we pass has to stop to ask about their collars. i'm thinkin' about not buyin' that satin for now...i may even have to do some up for others who desire fancy tanglefree duds for their dogs.
the body snatcher
i have been very busy workin' on a new project n' as i've been workin' i've been tryin' to figure out when it was that the body snatcher (that had been here previously) sent her even less charmin' sister to break back into my home to possess my mini again. and also, what hormone or such is it that takes hold - in a blink of an eye - that makes a young person suddenly think they know everything there is to know about everything that could possibly come up in conversation? this led to more thinkin' n' ponderin' about many other things....like...why do young people - 'specially those possessed by creepy other beins' - go to the trouble o' askin' you how they look before leavin' the house for this or that and even twirl n' spin for you so nothin' is missed 'n then once you have given them the opinion they so much desired, why then do they look at you like you're plain nuts, make huffy puffy sounds 'n then go change everything they had been showin' off to you? these are questions i'd like to discover the answers for.
all this leads me to thinkin' about that big lipped octomom with the fourteen kids....thinkin' that if she had birthed just one o' the previous six earlier and already experienced the early double digit ages with 'em, she would have never ever gone on and had eight more.
today's picture is a snapshot o' the other two girls i am mother to...both just as spoiled as my beloved mini but much much easier to live with.
mother's day serenade
a belated happy mother's day to all of you current and future mothers! i woke up to a lovely serenade by our dear coco (shown in the pic o' the day delivering one o' many encores) and was smothered with lots o' presents and a big chocolate mini-made cake that will take miles and miles logged into the pedometer's tiny window to work off. i truly hope that everyone else's day turned out just as delicious!
free lead with purchase
when you sit at a screen designin' doo dads for delivery via download for dollars and dimes and can hear but not see the television in the tv-on-all-the-time room below you, lots o questions come to mind concernin' what you're hearin' and many of 'em get stuck there and refuse to leave. the question at the forefront this very minute is why o why the producers o' that merv crossword game show chose the sound of fingernails on a chalkboard as the background noise while they fill in the blanks after a question is asked. i am thinkin' THEY think it is the sound of a pencil on paper but sounds more like the dreaded fingernails on the chalkboard to me. if the show fails i do believe this will be the reason.
other questions that keep poppin' into my noggin......am i possibly the only person within t.v. sound range that is sick o hearin' about britney? is anyone besides me thinkin' that no matter what paul did to heather, nothin could make him look as bad as she looks goin' on all the entertainment shows spewin' venom and that all that venom is pretty much cancelin' out any good thoughts we had about her after she performed for us so well with only one leg? am i the only one who would consider myself a failure as a mother if my child appeared on judge joe brown's show? and why'd they move the soap with the monkey and witch to some other universe? why'd days o our life kill off john....or is this just another one o those times when he's only pretendin' to be dead and that's the reason marlana isn't bein' as dramatic as usual??
on the top o my list o questions gathered while listenin' but not watchin' the t.v. as i design' doo dads for delivery via download are ones havin' to do with the lead the toy manufacturers have been includin' along with their toys at no extra cost and the mysterious increase in dear children bein' diagnosed with learnin' difficulties and autism. the questions i have about these newsworthy items have remained on the top o my question list for quite a while now and i keep hopin' one o those talkin' heads will either give me the answers or at least ask the questions themselves.
here's what i keep wonderin'.....
•how long are we to assume this lead giveaway has been goin' on? they have recalled many o playthings that are currently on the shelves of toys 'r us and other fun providers but what about those that are no longer bein' manufactured or sold? it seems to me that we are left to think that all toys made previous to this discovery and not recalled and still in our possession are safe - those maybe in an attic packed away to pass on to those grand kids i'm hopin' to have one day when i grow up. but since i have not yet been told how these toys are checked and how often they are checked and how the current lead pass-along was discovered, i am left wonderin' about every toy i ever placed in my mini's eager hands or have stored away.
•i know little about autism except that it is a very difficult diagnosis to receive about any child - whether one o your own or someone else's. from what i have heard most children with autism develop normally and then suddenly that development seems to go haywire. also that many parents of autistic children firmly believe that immunizations their children receive are the cause of the disease as their problems begin around the same time they received them. why has no one ever given the statistics on how many children that did not receive them are autistic? did any o' those children - immunized or not - play with too many o those toys that come with the free lead - or possibly somethin' even worse?
i am sure that since none o' the experts have been posin' these question they shouldn't be on the top o my question list but they remain there right next to all the others. others such as - could our trust in thinking all the systems in place to keep us and our children safe and the products we purchase safe and the food we eat safe be misguided? shouldn't someone at least ask if maybe lead or some other dangerous element our children have played with or consumed created the onslaught o' learnin' difficulties and problems today's lil children are developin'?
i'll keep listenin' while i design the doo dads and as always, will end up with more questions about the world we live in for my on-goin' list than answers and from time to time may be forced to share more of 'em here in blogdom. in the meantime, since both the lead problem and child development have been featured so prominently at the same time on all the newsy type shows, i'll keep hopin' one o those talkin' heads will at least ponder for us whether something like lead on our children's toys could be the cause of all these sweet children bein' diagnosed with illnesses and problems at a higher rate than ever.
i fear i may be diagnosed with a permanently damaged neck if lil coco keeps growin'. while she doesn't seem to be gettin' that much bigger, she is certainly much heavier. i can state this as a fact since the only way to keep her happy while mini is away at school each day is as you see her in today's blogart...in a lil bag hangin' from around my neck! it's not really too bad unless tink has a fit o jealousy and insists on hangin' from a bag o her own....unfortunately this is most often the case. lookin' on the bright side...it's always nice to feel needed.
sibling rivalry
since unfortunately i was blessed with only one child, i never experienced siblin' rivalry as a mother...or even as a siblin' for that matter. i adored my brother michael the football star (as does everyone who meets him) and my sister's IQ was in those triple digits and she was magna-cum-everything and named queenie and for most o' our childhood, wore a crown (NOT a tiara - those are for mere princesses).
i couldn't play football (tho i did often play around with those who could) and never read a book until i got to college (but still made good grades by turnin' in fabulous book reports where i made up not only the story i pretended to read but the author, book name and even the book numbers). the closest i ever came to royalty was when i was football sweetheart and then - wouldn't ya' know - they crowned me with a mere tiara that was just on loan...so as you can clearly see spendin' time rivalin' while growin' up was not time well spent.
therefore i am at a loss at what to do now that this sort o' behavior is occurin' right under my nose. mini got coco - her own lil biddy un-dog - for her birthday and tinkerbelle hasn't been very welcomin'. i had envisioned the two lil ones frolickin' up and down the long hallways and cuddlin' up together and once coco got a bit bigger, tink even sharin' her closet o' canine couture with her lil sister - and they are actually sisters - so i had no reason to doubt the days ahead would be filled with fluffy, furry fun.
but tink will have nothin' whatsoever to do with coco. nada....zilch...zero. coco has tried just about everything to get her to play and tink just turns up her nose and goes to someplace the baby pup can't get to. but no matter where she is, she keeps her coal black eyes on me...watchin' every move i make and listenin' to every baby-talk word spoken to coco - like she's keepin' a list. i am at a loss as to what to do. especially now that mini started back to school this week. both girls wanna sit right on top o' me so my day is spent havin' two tiny white fluffballs jumpin' back and forth across my lap - tink tryin' to get away from coco but still stay close to me and coco followin' close behind.
in the next few days i'm afraid it's gonna get worse. there was one remainin' pup from the batch coco came from and once jo saw the boofy bouffant on the lil barker (on the right in the top picture), she decided she can't live without it...so when she returns this week from her wal-marts across america tour, we'll have three! i do so hope at least two of 'em will be friends! i can't stand for my home to be full o' fightin' fluff! i could use some helpful hints on healin' and harmony if anyone o' you has some to offer!
i guess you can tell i'm pretendin' i wasn't missin' in action for the whole summer! if you'll humor me for now i promise to meet you here regularly now that mini isn't home all day....unless of course one o' these teeny tiny fuzzballs turns vicious and attacks me.
tinkerbelle & the white floor
one o' the other reasons i was too blogged down to blog involved miss tinkerbelle and my decision on the spur o' the moment to paint the floor o' the doo dad den white. how was i supposed to know that miss tink would refuse to walk on a spur o' the moment painted white floor?
for a while i figured she just thought the freshly painted floor was still too wet to risk disfigurin' her fluffy furry feet and the entry to the doo dad den - where the white floor started - was a line she wouldn't cross. but after a week or so i realized there was more to her freezin like a lil dog statue in the entryway than her vanity. she was scared o' the white painted floor! this was quite a problem cause she refuses to be away from me for more than a few minutes at a time and if i'm outta the doo dad den for too long - well, it could lead to delirium. i tried everyting to change her mind but she made it clear she wasn't walkin' on white. it made no sense cause it's not like she doesn't LIKE white. she is, after all, white. and her favorite food - vanilla ice cream - is white. and her blanket - the one i got for christmas but she took as her own as soon as i unwrapped it - is white. but she wasn't gonna walk on white.
i had ample time to figure out what to do about her withholding her wares from the white wood. as you might recall, i had re-kindled many o' my old injuries durin' the first round o' white and it took quite some time to be ready for the next. as i waited for the feelin' to come back in my neck and lower back, i experimented with several configurations and colors. she finally approved o' green squares - spaced close enough that she can hop from one patch o' green to the next so that she never has to touch the white areas.
i'm still strugglin' with gettin' my canine couture creations to work out right. tink is modelin' my latest attempt here...made from quilt pieces - a dresden plate for the skirt. i am still havin' trouble with the neck fittin the way i want it to. as soon as i get it right i'll share the pattern with you cause those to make good dog duds are hard to come by - unless you can read japanese and even then, you have to be a detective to figure out where to buy em!
as for the white cashwere blanket pictured with tink,(i'm hopin' i spelled that correctly- as you know i don't worry much with such things unless reviewin' products) - we all recommend it highly. if you ever have the chance to nap under one, jump at it! we had two - the one tink has taken over and a brown one that mimi and jo fought over so much, mini finally cut in two to keep the peace. mini and i both have the robe and sweater but keep em hidden if the trailer park pair are in the real house (as opposed to the metal ones).
i'll sign off for now...i have many an egg to finish before i sleep and i've promised a bakers dozen o' momade doughnuts to the molandians! thanks so much for stoppin' by!
tink
most dog owners wouldn't be too concerned to find their precious pooch perched on pretty pillows like this with their peepers tightly closed. i, on the other hand, go into a panic and start pokin' her to make sure she is alive. the reason for such behavior is that this pampered puppy lives among die hard chocoholics. we don't necessarily have to eat it everyday but we all get real nervous if there's none waitin' for us within arms length.
as much as i love this lil puff ball, if i had known she wouldn't be able to share a 1.55 ounce hershey's bar, one o mini's deluxe chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven or a coupla m&m's with me i would have committed myself to the betty crocker center or wherever it is that chocoholics go to dry out before i brought her home. altho my addiction has always been so serious that might've meant she'd still be waitin'.
humans who have been dog lovers all their lives just assume everyone knows that dogs can't eat chocolate. i must admit i had never knew. the first i ever heard of it was when i was leavin' the breeder's house, carryin with me tink in the pink chenille personalized bassinette i had made for her. i patiently listened to 2 hours of rules and regulations that i had to solemnly swear to adhere to if i wanted mini's daddy to have the right to hand her a check written out in an amount that would buy a small used car. when we were finally allowed to leave, i was certain i knew everything necessary to take really good care of my teeny canine child. it wasn't til i was gettin' in the car that the breeder shouted out, 'and remember - even a small amount o chocolate will kill her'. i was certain my ears were playin' tricks on me. when we were all back in the car i asked mini's daddy if that was really true...no chocolate for my dog? yes he said, dogs weren't supposed to eat chocolate.
but what about his wiener dogs? he's had five durin' our married life and all of em have eaten chocolate. willie and wall e. would do any tricks requested for hours on end for just one tootsie roll - those real little ones. and wiener number three, wilma, once ripped open the corners of 12 boxes o godiva chocolates, all wrapped in that pretty gold paper, and ate everything that she could reach with her long snout which was about a half of each box (she also loved pepsi and would run off with a can of it and then bring it back empty). and number four and five, betty and fred, have been caught stealin' whole bags o oreos from the pantry and only eat the chocolate parts and leave the middles tucked here and there in the grass. mini's daddy said they were special so the chocolate rule didn't apply.
i have been lucky that until recently, tink has never showed much interest in the forbidden food...though she has chewed quite a bit o gum. she loves gum and has some sorta gum radar and can locate it no matter where it's tucked away. she's quite capable of chewin' it like it was meant to be chewed but we do our best to keep her from makin' it a habit.
last weekend one o mini's bodysnatchin' friends came for a sleep over. for some reason she never stopped eatin' - every time i looked at her she was popping somethin or other in her mouth. the pocket of her pajama's were filled to the brim with calories of all sorts. when she left i found her pajamas hurled on the floor and only tink's tail waggin' outta the pocket. when i pulled her out there was nothin' left in the pocket but one chocolate chip. we rushed her to the dog emergency room and even though they said she'd be fine, i didn't take my eyes off of her for at least 48 hours straight. it was durin' this time that she took up this new sleepin' pose - the one that makes her look less than alive. i guess i'll get used to it after awhile but it has given me quite a few scares this past week. it's even made me not have such a cravin' for chocolate.
a quick update before i blog off....so many of you emailed to ask what positions jo & mimi were takin in the rosie & donny debacle that jo promised to blog about it this weekend. much to mini's daddy's disappointment, they both honored their agreement not to speak again til tomorrow. i'm afraid it won't matter though cause durin' their break from debatin' the president did some of his talkin on nationwide t.v. and you haven't seen anything as wild as mimi and jo when they get goin' on him. i think i better get a good night's sleep cause the mornin' promises to be quite entertainin' and i'd hate to miss even a minute of it.
thanks for stoppin' by and a special thanks to all who stop that extra bit o time to send those lil messages before heading off! it's much appreciated!
blah blah blah & tink in her kate
i apologize for not comin by for a blog or more since my last diddy. seems i have had one dilemma after another here in the doo dad den since bloggin up mini's birthday tower. the dilemmas run from the big ones to some silly ones - like that damn squirrel chewin thru the air conditionin tunnel that feeds the cool and much needed air into the doo dad den.....or me spendin time tryin to figure out how the world seems to be goin backwards in the area of gettin along with each other and further and further from the world peace i had hoped for mini to enjoy as an adult...then there was my server turnin downright stingy on it's available bandwidth and creatin a big ol disaster for all moland.
just when i got most dilemmas sorted out and decided to take a day off from non-stop frettin about my lil nephew being told he had to stay in iraq for another six months only three days before he was to come home...wouldn't you know there was another bashin held in my honor over at one o those free for all sites. when this happens my mailbox fills up more and more with every blink o my peepers with people wantin to become members and molandians wantin to issue a call to grab big ol doo dad sticks and do some bashin o the bashers.
all o this has left me lil time for comin around and doin some bloggin even though i have been gatherin many things to share. i hate for you to stop by day after day and find the same o things at the top o the pile so...i decided i'd officially say i won't be back on a regular basis until mini gets back into school the second week o september. i'll try to make it sooner but setting a realistic date to blog daily and tellin you when it will be will keep me from feelin so guilty about not havin enough time just yet.
in between now and the time mini gets back to her readin and writin and lipstick applyin, i will blog up some pictures o this and that....maybe not alot o words but at least some entertainment for your peepers so you won't forget about me. today's peeper is a shot mini caught of tink pokin her head outta one o the many kate spade bags she uses as her hidin places. i have recently been tryin to get her to stop this habit as i have had some embarrassin moments in my travels...reachin in for some dough or a plastic plate with mini's daddy's name bumped into it and findin my fingers wrapped around a chunk o pizza or a crusty ol piece a bread instead. tink has a habit o hiding lil snacks everywhere and lately has decided a kate is as good o place as any. up until now i have been intrigued watchin her tilt her tiny head to the side as if a really good idea just popped into her furry noggin and then go directly to one o her hiding places and come back with somethin i had given her a week or so ago. but reachin in and bein frightened by feel o some mystery meal in the bottom of an already jumbled bag o mo stuff means it is time to convince her to set up her buffet of aged leftovers in one place...it's either that or i will have to move the kates to a location that is too high for her leapin ability.
i'm hopeful that you'll understand my need to limit the words and speak mostly thru images til my mini is not here everyday. it has been such a pleasure spendin the summer with the real thing now that the body snatcher seems to be on summer break. i have my fingers crossed that she won't take mini's body over again when school starts! but if she does i guess it'll give me even more to write about.
once again i say....thanks for stoppin by and hope to see you again in the next few days!
safety check!
sorry to have been missin again...it was mini's birthday week and i was quite busy entertainin a daily arrival of 14 year old girls. i need to do some catchin up but wanted to blog up this shot o my trusty assistant checkin out the safety o mini's birthday tower....it passed inspection and mini said it was the best present ever (but not where her daddy could hear as he is in charge o the BIG presents). i will try to blog up some o the things that made up this o so incredible tower over the next few days. of course it's somethin that will soon appear in my friend amy's sweetest shop on the worldwideweb , inspirecompany.com. she's been workin on it for some time and i was delighted to let her experiment with it on my mini....specially since she has provided my end o presents for mini's birthday week for many years now.
gonna go grab me one last piece o the baskin-robbins birthday cake before gettin' to work here in the doo dad den. i may need to add an extra 10 or so miles a day to my workout for some time to come....eatin every meal with 14 year old girls is dangerous. no matter how much i ate, it seemed i was dietin compared to what they were eatin but i do believe it ended up being about twice what i would regularly eat...jo is feelin the extra snackin too - she told me today that when she sits down it feels like she's got her own cushion built in to her backside and that even her tube tops seemed a bit snug and there's nothin' worse than somethin' with an ol' one size fits all label stitched into it not fittin'!
thanks for not givin' up on me durin' the birthday week...can't wait to see you back here on a regular basis again!
late surfacin' genes
as i have said before, i never cared much one way or the other for pets...and all my life i had a strong aversion to animals dressed up in people clothes. they made me run screamin. the disney characters gave me the willies and the care bears scared me to death! the more the creatures tried to act like humans the worse my reaction would be...i guess the same way you would react if i came runnin up to you on my hands and knees, neeked as a jay-bird, and barked at you....or coughed up a fur ball and then curled up in a lil ball. therefore it is hard to imagine i turned into someone who not only HAS an animal attached to me at all times but that i talk baby talk to her and keep her dressed-up most o the time.
i am hopeful not too many o you are also sickened by lil creatures in human clothes cause i'd like to be able to share shots from tink's modelin' portfolio from time to time. maybe i could send you a warnin first before you stop by - sort a like tracy does for me if she does anything with a picture of a bird in it. i have also always been creeped out by birds - and not cause o the impendin bird flu either...it's cause my mom used to let her parakeets fly around the house and sometimes one would scare me by poppin it's head outta her pocket. i lived in fear of accidently squishin one or bein dive bombed when i least expected it.
i don't wanna give you the impression my mom was some looney bird lady - she was actually much loved and respected in the lil town she lived in for the last 40 or so years of her life. but there were times i didn't love and respect either of my parent's devotion to their pets...like the time i brought the college boyfriend du jour home for the day. his name was randy read and his goal in life was to be the governor of the state o texas...therefore he was always aware of keepin up appearances and minglin with the right sort o people. when we arrived after the three hour drive, my dear mother answered the door with one o her winged pets ridin around on the top o her head. it didn't help matters that at the very same time my dad drove up in his pick-up - car seat strapped firmly in the passenger side and filled to the brim with his homely but dearly loved dog. things only got worse as far as any hope for a longtime relationship with the future governor when after lunch we were all eatin popsicles (it was a special occasion after all) and my dad shared his with his dog - every once in a while, just sort of shoved it in the canine's direction so she could have a few licks - as my mom did the same with the parakeet, which had moved to her shoulder. it was never mentioned but i saw the fear in the visitor's eyes. i always wished i would have taken him by jo's parent's abode on wheels on the way back to school and watched his reaction to their goat sittin on the couch watchin the soaps with my aunt.
i guess those pet lovin genes run deep and in my case just took a while to surface. attached here is a photo of tinkerbelle in the fourth o july get-up i stitched together for her. it was cousin jo who suggested i do up some doggie delights with the doo dads i was done with. i haven't quite got the lil details worked out yet - i am still tryin to deal with droopy dips in my design...but tink doesn't seem to be bothered by havin numerous fittins' while i try to get it right. much credit to my adventures in doggie couture go to my friend missy peggy...she sent tink the prettiest pink dress recently which inspired me greatly. now tink is the best dressed dog in the neighborhood and durin our walks together, she even has had people pull their cars over to tell her how impressed they are with her attire. someone even sent her a pair o black mary janes! but that's pretty silly - animals aren't supposed to wear shoes!
i do so hope you all had a happy fourth and your summer is goin well. jo and i are now both back in town so please stop by cause we should be tendin to our bloggin duties on a more regular basis! xoxoxoxoxoxo
not the bird flu
...it's me - mo's cousin jo - the pretty one...probably the more talented one too but you wouldn't know that since i don't feel the need to show off on the worldwideweb daily. i like showin off in person myself...but i didn't come here to yakityak about myself this time - altho i know you wish i had! i tell mo all the time she should have let me be the figurehead of the mo monarchy but she says i need to get more doo dads under my belt before mouthin off like i am the better doo dad dispenser... i think when i finally am able to share my talents with the worldwideweb i'll have ta call em jo's jewels so they won't get confused with mo's doo dads...altho if they are as fabulous as those roses i made outta my squirrel eaten pink sponge rollers there will be no way they'll get mistaken for anything but mine!
oops...sorry...i get so excited when i take over the steerin wheel of the blog that i forget why i came in the first place. i'll try to stick to the point...which is...mo is sick. the sort of sick where the house could be taken over by aliens or ME and she could care less cause she feels too bad to open her eyes to rescue mini, gigi, tink or mini's daddy. i am not sure what the ailment that has taken hold of her is but i have an idea. and it's not cause she works all the time doin doo dads and dealin with mini's doins and keepin mini's daddy from drivin us dottie and if not any of those, doin good deeds for anyone who deserves em ( i didn't add myself to that list cause i only enhance her daily life and am in no way a drain on her energy)...all that could probably make someone develop a deadly disease but not mo. no...i do believe she is debilitated due to some dire flu.
i don't think it's that bird flu. i don't even think i believe in the bird flu just yet. i mean....it seems the only time we hear alot about that bird flu is when that o junior who has been misplaced in the white house finds himself in hot water and thinks he can divert our t.v. watchin minds from the misdeed du jour and the best way he knows to do it is to make us think there is a deadly disease flappin it's way to a sky near us any minute. i mean....thanks to junior's direct underling, dickie, we KNOW the crazy group runnin the country HATES birds. in fact, i'm of the mind that the reason, while tryin to kill some of the dangerous flyin creatures, he turned and shot his shootin partner is that the shootin partner discovered this bird flu plot and threatened to expose the whole thing and in a panic he just shot him before givin the whole thing much thought.
plus, we have seen over and over again that neither junior or dickie can be trusted to tell the truth....so...why wouldn't they lie about cute feathery creatures turnin into deadly flu carryin vehicles? i am not sure how this bird badmouthin ties into all their other schemes but it'll come out sooner or later...unfortunately most all their dumb deeds come out LATER. i do believe, though, i read somewhere once that when junior was a lil boy he was almost scared to death stayin up late, watchin t.v., and endin up watchin hitchcock's 'the birds' on the midnight matinee. maybe that's the simple answer to his hatred of birds but whatever it is, mo doesn't have the bird flu.
now...she may have some form of squirrel sickness though. we have had quite a time lately with that tracy squirrel livin above the doo dad den. tracy squirrel now has a batch of mean lil toddler squirrels that she sends out scurryin all over the property to gather things for her. they plum ate my pink sponge rollers to bits and ran off with my bright red cover girl lipstick. then one o the housekeepers told us that when she walks up the driveway toward the house to come to work, at least one of those squirrels jumps up on her and hangs on for dear life and won't let go til she gives it all her change. she has since said she will not be doin any duties that require her to leave the house and makes someone drive her up and down to the street each day. i made her walk up one more time just to prove this unbelievable story to me and was able to snap a shot of it. i had to donate the change to give the squirrel for her to do it though.
but the worst incident so far happened right when i was takin this picture of mo and is when i think mo mighta caught some sorta squirrel sickness. we were gonna take some pictures of the bisque eggs for includin in the directions to make em - the ones mo posted the other day - so we took em outside to lay em in the grass for a more realistic montage. and right when i was shootin the shot here of mo doin the egg placin, outta nowhere one of those tracy squirrel toddlers came barrelin toward mo, grabbed the bisque egg and took off. in all the melee seems he made a little scratch on mo's hand.
don't get me wrong - i am not tryin to follow junior and dickie's seemingly diabolical deed in disaster creatin by makin it seem all squirrels are bad or will make you sick. but just so happens that change payin housekeeper called in sick the last couple o days - says she has some sort of flu. maybe it is just a co-inka-dink that she and mo are both sick and were both victims of the squirrelly antics here in moland but it's worth considerin!
anyway...that's it. just wanted you to know mo hadn't abandoned this here blog or any of ya'll who have written her...she'll be back as soon as she feels better. until then i may just hafta keep doin the blog steerin myself. maybe tomorrow i'll hafta show you the eggs i have been paintin up for the kids while mo is out flat. she would never ask me to of course but i thought i'd help where i can. i must admit i'm pretty good at the egg paintin thing and think you'll wanna do some like mine too. so unless i get lots of comments left here askin me to stay away, i'll do just that.
thanks for stoppin by to see what's up here in moland...hope you aren't too disappointed at findin me, jo - the pretty one - here 'stead of mo!
yoooo hooooo!
yooo hooo! bet you thought i had done given up the bloggin cause i was permanently poutin after my previous pixelatin pal portrayed me as preferrin to partake in pokin around peerin for pixels to poach from other people's pantries rather than painstakinly photoshoppin my own! but no...regardless of the penetratin pain pinned on me by her pixel parsin pinky pointin and partakin in prime time pea pitchin, i have not punted my pesky penchant for postin words pecked out givin my views on the pearls and perils i peer out at as they pass my perch here in the doo dad den. today that perch is the planked floor. once again i am planted prone with the laptop presently placed on my plush parts...starin up at all the purchases i paid plenty for from pottery barn - which i was previously partial to for personal property portals - while my trusty companion sits beside me, cozy in a brand spankin new kate spade.
i did have to ponder the whole pixel parsin profusely and for a time there i was thinkin maybe i caught that repetitive complusivatin disorderin disease. every time i plopped myself down in front of the doo dad designin machine, i would feel the need to JUST ONE MORE TIME go through a couple hunderd or so of my doo dads done up for delivery via download to check em....JUST ONE MORE TIME...to make sure that pesky lil stitch i accidently thought was mine was no longer co-minglin against it's will with ashley or lola or melissa or any of those gals i introduced to you so very long ago. the other coupl'a questionable pixel pretties were gone but that lil stitch was drivin me crazy. after partakin in that compulsivatin for a week or so i realized my peepers were plumb pooped and i had what seemed to be a permanent pain in my noggin and a primary colored pattern prancin back and forth across one eye. so instead of boppin over here to bang out a bounty of blogs, i was tryin to conserve my visionatin for completin all the holiday doo dads i promised to the doo dad devotees for delivery via download so they could do up designs to dole out christmas cheer to their loved ones.
i will be back to blog some blah blah blah about gettin my peepers probed by the opto doctor with the ugly office and no personality and then hope to bang out some mo-like wacom advice for all those who have written askin for such. but today i thought for my first writin of your new year i'd explain why i am decidin to have my own new year begin a week later so i can maybe catch up to where i had hoped to be on the third day of 2006.
see, i had hoped to take a break from doo dad'n to do some rearrangin of closets and such the week after christmas. but vanity pummeled my plans. it was not my own vanity at fault but that of my child. i do believe that the vainest creature to exist is a girl enterin the teenaged years and the current title holder is my beloved mini. recently, the body snatcher who now resides within her has taken to wearin make-up. her desire to do so happened quite suddenly. it was only a few months ago, on her first day of the present school year, that i tried to apply a bit of mascara to her long eyelashes and slap a smudge of eyebrow pencil on her not so visible above-lid-hairs. these motherly actions resulted in her accusin me of tryin to make her look slutty. guess once she took a look at all her fellow girlie classmates workin to do just that, she decided she might as well join em.
when this new affliction hit, i took her to the department store and we bought all the things she felt she needed to cover up her perfect skin and smear across her peepers to disguise her gorgeous green eyes. i must admit that she has quite a talent for applyin the cheaply made but expensively packaged concoctions and i have tried really hard to obtain a talent for keepin my chapped lips together without naggin words flowin from them. i hope to be more successful at this than i was at promisin myself i wouldn't jerk her hair from hangin down over one soot smudged eye.
anyway....since she has started messin up her face every day, even if not goin out into the world, she has taken over the area in which i used to attempt to do the same, includin mixin her slutty purchases in with my motherly ones. as i have openly admitted here, i am a messy person who lives in fear that someone will peer into my purse and especially take a peek into my make-up bag. the last time this happened the shocked person lookin for a bit o lip gloss was kind enough to alert me that something horrible had spilled inside. i didn't admit that that's the way it looked all the time and if she weren't so picky she could'a easily poked her index finger around until she felt somethin slick and slimey and pulled it out to find a lovely color of chanel lip gloss on the tip that would easily do the trick.
but the body snatcher sets a new record for pig. every time she peers in the 300 dollar lighted mirror she told her daddy she needed (but that i had always thought was just a bit too much to fork over for just slappin on some eyebrows) and deems that she has achieved just the right look for the day and then prances off to the hair area where she spends all that time makin sure she gets hers to hang over her eye just enough to make my skin crawl and then runs back to her new love - a gleemin new electric guitar personally autographed by all the members of a band full of males who also wear make-up, she leaves behind somethin like i have never seen. and that's sayin alot comin from the mother pig.
after too many times of sittin down to try to apply some make-up myself - to downplay my own natural beauty so as not to cause a scene - and not bein able to find a thing or havin to scrape off a top layer of grunge from some vital pot of wonder creme without a lid, i decided it was time to set the body snatcher up with a face paintin station of her very own. i didn't alert mini's daddy to this decision as he would have felt it necessary to search the world for somethin fit for a princess and maybe even arranged a consultation with make-up artists and dressin room makers to the stars when all that was called for here was somethin that had drawers, a surface for the 300 dollar lighted mirror and could withstand a pass with the high pressure squirter now and then. so i went online and navigated my way to the pottery barn.
after pokin through the different sites they pitch up on the internet i settled on the one for teens and somethin they called 'you're so vanity'. the copy was followed by the little icon that stands for in-home delivery as well as the extra shippin price of $125.00 to be added onto the $699.00 cost of the thing itself...plus tax. havin just returned from the pitiful paintin pig pen, i was desperate enough to poke the buy button and arrange for the piece to be sent on it's way. havin already filled mini's bedroom and playroom full of that pretty white furniture from pottery barn and knowin that the nice men in pressed uniforms would arrive to do all the settin up, the extra $125.00 for in-home delivery added to the regular shippin to total $208.00 plus the item's price and tax seemed worth it. i have never seen mini's daddy hold a screwdriver and my old dare devil injuries take too long to go back into hidin after i make em surface when doin assembly of this nature.
i should'a known things wouldn't go as planned early on. after waitin way past the time alotted for the fancy in-home delivery people to call to tell me they were comin, i inquired and found that they had been given the wrong phone number and had been leavin messages for who the heck knows. after much back and forth it seems they were gonna be able to do the in-home delivery just in the nick of time - christmas eve. that was fine by me cause i'd have less time tryin to hide the big ol thing from mini.....i'd have the nice men put it together in the christmas tree room (called that cause bout the only time we go in there is when there is a tree included) and keep mini outta there til the next mornin. they gave me a four hour in-home delivery window...so i set the day up to have mini gone with jo durin that four hours.
wouldn't ya know they'd show up early. havin doo dadded until the wee hours i was still snozin and mini's daddy was already out on his daily saturday mornin doins so jo let the scruffy lookin grouchy guys in. not knowin quite what to do she had em carry the three big ol boxes to the hall outside the master bedroom and then the scruffy grouchy guys scurried off and were gone in the time it took to get me to wake up and poke my head out. seems the in-home delivery didn't inlcude putting THIS thing together and cartin off the big ol boxes. once i went back to the site to look i did some extra poking AWAY from the actual item page and did find a tiny bit of info sayin this item i had delivered was one of the ONLY things even THEY didn't wanna try to put together - if you ordered it, you would be on your own. i do feel it should have been on the actual page itself. see, havin spent a good deal over 10000 dollars at the establishment over the last two years alone and the in-home icon always meanin actual in-home delivery, well, i had no reason to think otherwise or poke around further. had i known to do so this go round, i would have NEVER ordered the 'you're so vanity' - even if offered for free!
so....it's over a week later and still, here i lay.....injured from top to bottom with my fingers all sliced up to boot. see, they say in the description that the vanity has these pretty faceted knobs. they are faceted - or at least the five that i got are - not sure about the sixth one cause i could never find it. they could also be used as weapons....seems when they made em they just plum plopped the faux glass right outta the mold and decided not to invest in a smoothin down process for the rough edges of those faucets.....when i went to grab em and put em on, i sliced my fingers up...sort of really long, really deep paper cuts that really hurt when i try to bend my fingers. good thing i spent the hour before tryin to get the damn parts outta the boxes cause with my fingers all sliced up i might have needed to wake up mini's daddy and spoil the visions of sugar plums dancin in his snorin head to help me. what a shame that would'a been. and i seldom decide to do any cleanin myself but was glad i anticipated takin christmas pictures and havin a clean house appear in the background of em so before the finger slicin i had spent another hour on my hands and knees pickin out all the tiny styrofoam beadlets that flew like a blizzard off the bigger chunks the pieces were encased in as i fought with some invisible monster who was tryin to keep everything tucked in those 3 huge shippin containers. gettin rid of those things could fill a separate blog so i'll not even go there at this time.
i do so wish i had accomplished more of the multi-hour assembly process before the fauceted finger slicin though....like flipping the heavy pieces over to put em together and then havin to figure out how to get the thing right side up again to attach the mirrors. or realizin that because the pieces weren't labeled once outta the box, i had put the left side on the right and the right on the left and therefore had to do the whole flippin scenario all over again to get things to go together correctly. and because one of the thingamabobs that the legs screw into was missin, once finally flipped over right side up, the whole thing tilted forward and fell ontop of me. i'm thinkin maybe that's when my shoulder was injured.
by the time the new pig pen was assembled i was crippled but was somehow able to heave the damn thing onto just enough of the rug to lay on the floor behind it and push it toward it's final restin place with my legs....pushin and then scootin and pushing and scootin....it seemed to take forever but was really just long enough, since tink decided to ride along on the rug, to think about how glad i was that i had chosen such a tiny companion.
i had mini sleep in another room so i could place the piece of furniture i had come to hate in place before she woke up. once i had permanently damaged my hips gettin it to the door of her bedroom, i realized i had forgotten that in the place it was to live was a five foot tall tree covered from tip to tip with purple lights and balls. so another hour was spent getting the decorated tree outta the door and past the vanity and set up someplace else, breakin only about a third of the purple balls along the way. a little more push and scoot and it was finally in place. i decided since i was already layin flat from the leg pushin and had finally gotten my fingers to stop bleedin, i'd just stay put and close my eyes a few minutes for a little recuperation. and that is where my small family found me when the sun came up on christmas mornin. because i have the title of mom i was somehow able to hobble through the day and the week that followed. any less crown carried on my head would have me considerin hospitalization or at least a month long drug induced layathon on the shabby couch.
i offer up this night before christmas assembly story for two reasons. first, sort of as an apology for all that i have let fall by the wayside that last week of 2005....i have left people out in the cold...knockin on the moland door, still have a givin of thanks on the public part of my website, have neglected to send the heartfelt words of appreciation to all those beloved fan club members who sent me such wonderful gifts, didn't send out the christmas presents after christmas as i planned...the ones that didn't get sent out before christmas but that i thought might be okay if they arrived just a FEW days late....but that are still sittin here waitin to depart......these are just a few of the things i didn't get accomplished on my list but just tappin those out with the only two fingers healed enough for swift movin has me filled with heavy waves of almighty guilt. i do so hope to be movin around a bit better this week so that i can attempt to catch up before startin my own delayed new year.
i also wanna make sure that if anyone else is considerin providin a face paintin body snatcher of their own with a personal pen in which to primp and plop their potions, the pieces and parts i picked would not be recommended by the moland product review committee. when it finally came time for the snatcher of mini to transfer all her peeper paints and other face disguisin doo dads over to the new mother cripplin christmas present, seems though the multi faceted finger slicin knobs are attached to drawers that are nice and deep....they only open far enough to place but the smallest of particulars in em. they are just not workable. the only way my mini has found to make the damn thing function in the week followin the cripplin is to leave everything out...and since there is not much storin space on the outside, seems the pots and potions are now all over the room. the only thing that can be stored and easily retrieved from the 'you're so vanity' so far are q-tips. and i wasn't havin a q-tip storin dilemma. so unless it is expensive, large, body cripplin q-tip storage that you yourself are seekin, i suggest you skip payin to have the 'you're so vanity' SORT OF home delivered to your address. since the one i ordered arrived, the problem i sought to erase has been made worse plus now i am unable to do anything about it until more mendin takes place.
as you can see from today's bit o art above, my dear little companion was quite joyous christmas mornin even though her master wasn't. seems the kate spade santa delivered this noel was the best yet in her opinion. the minute she laid her sweet eyes upon it she leaped inside and decided to stay for most of the day, only leavin to dig out another treat from her stockin to take back into the kate with her. she has been livin there for the most part since then, bidin her time within it's silky satin linin until we can both return to our doo dad'n places on the shabby couch. i have been tryin to train her to retrieve treats from MY stockin but so far if i want a snack while on the floor i can choose from chicken or liver flavored rawhide only. if i stay down here much longer i will just have mini bring my calorie filled stockin and lay it next to me.
i do so hope that you had a wonderful holiday time and that if you were also needed for assembly work christmas eve that yours wasn't as painful as mine. if you are among the many i have neglected this go around, don't give up on me just yet...i'm sure i'll be up and around any minute now and ready for my delayed new year to begin.
too many mos and not enough zzzzzzs
i am too tired to finish the blog i started....so tired i ran an errand in the pourin rain and didn't even notice i had a flat tire....and then forgot my little dog, who has never been left alone, in the car cause i was too tired to notice she had jumped out of my purse into the backseat....
...so tired that when i took a bath hoping to drown my exhaustion and wake myself up some, i washed my hair with tink's hair brightenin shampoo. i haven't looked in the mirror yet to see the effect but both members of my family asked, "what happened to your hair" so i'm not hopeful that it enhanced my natural beauty.
before i fall over into a deep sleep, i thought i better apologize for not getting all the new art uploaded to the doo dad shop today as i had promised and intended. it will indeed appear once i finally get more than two or three hours of sleep.
also wanted to say...when things got all wacky last week because of the bandit alarm goin off, some new and old registrations for the private part of the site went wacky too. if you had been visitin earlier and can't get back in, please email me and i'll take care of it after i get those needed zzzzzzzs. and if you are wantin to come in for the first time, please be sure to send your requested user name and password along with your mailin address to: password_please@mac.com. in light of all the brouhaha last week, i need to verify your mailin address and IP just to make sure i don't welcome the slitherin slug and the bandit back in. once registered, your mailin address will be destroyed, never to be seen again - you won't have to worry about me droppin the body snatcher off for you to finish raisin altho it is a temptin solution. if you have already done this and not heard from me yet, it is because i am waitin until i can keep my eyes open before enterin your info.
since i hate a blog without a view, i have included some art made from 'the haunted house'...altho when added with all those mos above may just be waaaay too many mos for anyone to handle! also is more of 'the haunted house' but this time featuring my girls appearin as petra pan and tinkerbell.
thanks for stoppin by and i will get the blog i planned to log about bandits and slitherin slugs up next. xoxoxoxoxzzzzzzzzzzz
happy birthday tinkerbell!
i have never really been much interested in animals of any kind. growin up we always had pets but down south pets live outside so i don't even remember much about the ones we had except maybe their names. we always had some dogs and had a horse too. when my adored brother didn't ride his unicycle to school, he rode dixie, our horse. this wasn't long enough ago that this was the typical way to travel to get your daily dose of readin and writin - the horse or the unicycle - but my dear brother, like me, has never been afraid of bein different from everybody else.
i tried my best to take a likin to the horse but queenie, my sister, got to decide how the beast would be split up among the three of us (she always got to decide everything because she was goin to marry prince charles and be a real queen one day). she assigned my brother the head so he had to get the thing fed, assigned me the back end so i had to pick up the manure and in her queenly fashion, assigned herself the middle so she got to decide who got to ride it when and for how long. the combination of shovelin the manure and breakin my good arm fallin off ol dixie made me resign my end of the horse to the other two early on. my father had insisted i give the trick ridin a whirl. he had once been a rodeo cowboy himself and maybe hoped one of us would follow in his boot prints. but i fell after just a few tries and never got back on that thing again.
dogs were always on the top of my list of useless animals but i seemed to be the only one around with these feelins. where i grew up EVERY family had at least two and they were all allowed to roam free and make friends with all the other dogs. one of the things coach litton included when teachin us driver's ed after school was how to drive down a residential street without hittin one of the packs of dogs that would chase your car and that to avoid gettin your elbow nipped, not to rest your arm where it poked out the driver's window.
i do believe every boyfriend i ever had came with a canine attached to em and while i tolerated the furry creatures i never felt the overwhelming need to pet em and such. they were just somethin i had to put up with while i was bidin my time datin and waitin for prince charming and his safety fetish to come along and sweep me off my feet (bringin along with him his two vicious weiner dog - willie and wall e.). and while i could tolerate having to date a dog to date the owner, i would of dumped both if the dog ever showed up in any sort of clothing.
i developed a serious dislike of any animal lookin like they were tryin to be human early in life. besides mighty mouse who i loved but only got to watch occasionally when queenie allowed since flicka was on at the same time, i have never been able to watch cartoons because most of em consisted of animals dressed like humans and doin human things. they all gave me the creeps. especially that big yellow bird and any of the ones ruled by that mouse with the creepy voice that lived out in california in his own land. who would have ever guessed that one day i would actually find myself smack dab in the middle of both of em, being forced to hold their furry hands and that the rodent would end up breakin my foot by steppin on it with his big ol human shoes. as much as i dislike him for his greed and desire to dress in fancy human clothes i have to say it wasn't his fault - they make midgets climb in those hot as hell humans-playing-animals-dressed-like humans costumes and those big ol heads are just to hard to see through to know where their fake feet are goin.
anyway, i was pretty sure when the time came for me to be layin on my death bed, i'd be able to claim i had never had a pet and never seen a 'star wars' or 'star trek' movie - never cared much for aliens either though i think i've written here someplace that gigi's daddy was in one or another of the star treks so hopefully he won't be standin by my death bed when the time comes as he might take this announcement personally.
havin now confessed to all this, you can understand how every day i look at my little tinkerbell and wonder how on earth it came to be that she belongs to me, mo - disliker of dogs. and to top that, i can't imagine what happened to me that not only am i a dog owner but i have one that is better dressed than i ever am or have ever been.
it's hard to believe that this beloved little 3 pounds of hair (tink's breed doesn't have fur - they have actual hair - not sure the difference but thought i'd share that bit of dog info with you) is turnin two. i was tryin to remember what happened to make me do such a complete turnaround in the pet department. afterall, once prince charmins vicious weiner dogs were safely tucked in their little cremation canisters on the shelf of honor in the library, god rest their mean little souls, they were quickly replaced with lady bird, lucy bird, fred w., wilma and betty so there was really no need to add any more pesky pets. i'm thinkin it was around time my mom got so sick and when i realized mini's feet were draggin across the floor when i hefted her up to carry her to bed. i shared my pendin desire with mini who was delighted i might want a dog and she asked me to describe for her the dog of my dreams. i told her i wanted one that would fit in my purse, would always look like a baby and would love one that was completely round like a ball so it could just roll around . she quickly drew up a sample of my description and even made me a life sized one out of paper mache. that seemed to do the trick and meet all my new dog desires and then i sort of forgot about it.
but when christmas rolled around what did i find in my stockin but the cutest lil round dog i'd ever seen. and since then i don't go anywhere i can't take her, ridin along in my purse. some places say they don't allow dogs but most times jo or i can convince them she is a seein eye dog or is in charge of the money. the only place that turned us away so far is wal-mart and i am secretly delighted that i now have a good excuse for not attendin jo's hour long treks to the only one available in our area.
it's hard to believe how much happiness this tiny creature has brought to me. she arrived just in the nick of time to help fill the void left by my dear mom's departure and the invasion of mini's body snatcher. i can't even imagine how different i would feel if i didn't have her. so...i guess i have to admit i am now among the many people who fall into the category of dog lovers. if i had even the slightest bit of doubt, it quickly faded when watchin all the sadness on the t.v. after the first hurricane, and feelin just horrible but not yet givin in to my emotions, i caught sight of the little white dog that assumed it could follow it's owner on the bus takin the evacuees to their unknown destination. but as it's little paws reached the steps to hop into the bus, the door slammed shut and drove off leaving the poor little thing all alone. my heart broke into a million little pieces right then and there and i still cry every time i think about that image. i'm sure my tears are not just for the little dog. this image was and is just a perfect illustration of how it is possible for our biggest fear to actually come to life - our world as we know it up and disappearrin without any notice. and that's what was happening to the little dog and the little boy who had to leave it behind and all the other people on that bus along with all the thousands who had their lives as they knew em washed away overnight.
mini's daddy ended up telling me some wild story about how the little dog was rescued and taken to it's owner but i fear it was another one of his attempts to keep me from agonizin over the sufferin that goes on in the world. sort of like when i wanted to see 'shindler's list' and he made a copy of it for me to watch that ended up bein a story about some families takin a trip on a train and it not being the best vacation they ever had but was no where near the devastatin movie i had anticiapted or when he and mini tried to block oprah from the doo dad den's t.v. so that i wouldn't be in total despair every afternoon when they arrived home from work and school.
anyway....i thought tinkerbell deserved to have her big day honored with a bit of bloggin. the lovely art posted above was created by my dear friend tracy usin a shot of tink, in my lap and nestled in her little nest of pink lace. thank you missy tracy - from both me and tink.
just a bit of news for anyone who has signed up for my site or is waitin for somethin or wonders why the mo entry site, shop and gallery are all screwed up... i had a sort of bandit do some serious damage to everything last night and am workin hard to get everything back to where it was. i hope you will be patient with me with me while i try to get everything sorted out. a big thanks to all of you who have written today. it has really made me feel better about the whole ordeal.
i better get back to cleanin up the big ol mess - thank you for stoppin by the blog and i hope you will come often!
